TERMINÉ
The school administrative staff ,the counseling service, strategic planning team have come together with the project called “ Modern Methods, Rich Culture and Efficient School” of Şehit Piyade Onbaşı Orhan Tezcan Primary School to determine pupils’ basic problems, their needs; evaluating the survey questionnaire, problem screening inventory, operating characteristics rating scale, failure’s questionnaire, student attendance survey, they have tried to identify the needs of pupils and teachers. As a result of this needs analysis,the emerging deficiencies are as follows:
On pupils basis; attention deficit, distractibility, negative attitudes towards lessons, low level of motivation,violence tendency to their classmate,low success, negative attitudes towards school,conflict with each other, hyperactivity,adjustment problems(to their school,teachers,friends) and thus becoming isolated from school.
On teacher basis ; failing to help pupils with creating success expectancy,to increase pupils’ interest in lessons, to develop pupils learning motivation, to relate learned to pupils’ lives, developing group dynamics.
On school administration basis ;poor performance in planning and running school strategic, ,not having knowledge and experience in European projects, international cooperation adequately, failing to motivate teacher staff in innovations and developing in education field and to give them opportunity, not making plan to gain them social skills.
In line with the determinated needs in our school, we have made contact with course providers and did pre-registration the course called “Group Dynamics and Social Skills in the Classroom” which will be held on November 2015 in Grottaferrata city in Italy by European Bridges Consulting,
The course,the main activity we have included in the period of our project,whose objects :
Providing basic knowledge of group dynamics,Providing tools to make positive interventions to the group dynamics includes: starting the group, supporting the partnership in a group, creating norms of a group, creating goal
Providing basic knowledge of social skills: intrapersonal skills, interpersonal skills, group skills and organizational skills.
Providing adequate methods to teach social skills Learn to recognize our own power and weakness as a group leader .
All of the objectives of the course is matching with our school need analysis, for that purpose our teachers; class teacher Fatma SOYLU ,English teacher Serkan YEŞİLBAĞ and two of school administration staff: school principal and deputy will be attend the selected course. The participants will share the knowledge and skills with local authority, school administration,teacher,students,students’ parents and other educational institutions through some activities ,organized seminars, presentations and the project dissemination outputs.
At the end of the course, participants will be able to; have basic knowledge of group dynamic ,social skills, create the better school atmosphere, prioritize student-centered education, instead of teacher centered, classical learning which employed in common, by this means, education will be planned by taken pupils ‘interest and needs, use new methods and materials, make of mental and physical process, make lesson interest, take students attention on school subjects, besides provide group dynamic the adaptation problem of students towards school and their friends. do supportive activities with self enclosed, inactive students to join them in the group.
The products and outcomes of our project are; brochures,presentation,videos,questionaries,seminars,photographs,different kind of documents and reports. All of the project outcomes will be open to access via the school project corner, local newspaper, the brochures and shared documents that will be distributed to other organization in the city and the project website.
Thanks to to these project activities, our organization with having European background will have educational process based on the principle of learning by doing and experience which address the all aspect of students’cognitive,affective,kinetic and be set a curriculum in European dimension by interiorized this modern education methods.
