Date du début: 1 oct. 2014, Date de fin: 30 nov. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The Modell Europa Parlament Deutschland Session in Berlin (MEP.de 2015) was centered around the development and immersion of political participation, focusing on the empowerment of young people. On the one hand the participants were to strengthen competences, on the other hand they had discussed different issues in the framework of the structured dialogue: first in one of the eight committees, then in the plenary session and also in a fishbowl discussion with political decision makers. The method used was a simulation of the European Parliament. Issues relevant for young people havel been made accessible to them. In order to achieve this, 150 pupils of year 9 and 10 from all 16 German states came to Berlin from 22 to 27 February. The issues have been developed beforehand in a workshop with the committee presidents and the presidents (all of them being former participants of international MEP sessions nominated by their schools and having acquired and deepened knowledge about parliamentary processes in former MEP sessions). Before the national MEP extracurricular activities and school MEP simulations have been carried out the participating schools have prepared their delegates for the Berlin session. During the plenary session held in the German Bundesrat in Berlin eight resolutions drafted in the committee sessions during the weekhave been debated and voted on. Thereby a wide range of suggestions and proposals have been contributed by the young participants, forming the basis for the fishbowl discussion with European politicians and decision makers (Minister of Defence Ursula von der Leyen). Before and after the national session the delegations from the participating schools have met politicians in their schools to discuss the committee issues and prepare and evaluate the session. The MEP session have been documented by the young people online and in the form of a MEP newspaper. At the end of the Berlin session 24 delegates were nominated for the participation in the international MEP sessions. For these sessions they have been further prepared in a preparatory workshop in which they have received a deeper and sustainable insight into the work, function and relevance of the European Parliament as well as European Integration. Various key competences havel been intensified and they have been inspired to political and social commitment. Further, European topics relevant for young people in the sense of the European Youth Strategy have been discussed and deepened with political decision makers. Politicians have heighten their awareness of problems relevant for the youth and have been motivated to cooperate more closely with young people.
