Date du début: 1 juil. 2016, Date de fin: 30 juin 2018 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Training of practical skills and schooling as well as job placement in external companies are equally important for the efforts to secure a permanent employment after finishing the apprenticeship. We are not successful in every instance to acquire a suitable company: At one hand the number of employers who are willing to deal with learning impediments is low while the special needs of some youth stress the competence of the instructors beyond a point, which they can handle for a longer time. For these reasons the apprentices fail to acquire job placements on their own, especially abroad. This project aims at the opportunity for youth to expand their professional skills in the course of their apprenticeship. As a plus they improve their knowledge of another culture, new acquantances among employees, foreign language and habits. They are supposed to get curious about Europe and international careers. There are two purposes to the job placement: Improving skills and performance in work as well as improved chances in the job market. Traditionally the youth with a learning disorder have difficulties to find appropriate jobs. The additional experiences and skills acquired in this project will be of high importance to improve their chances of participation.Due to their special needs the youth will be accompanied by internationally experienced instructors. In the past our apprentices proofed to have great barriers to go abroad. The lack of appropriate language skills, little motivation to move, restricted financial resources and a lack of paternal guidance were common. In addition acquired bias and fears such as “.. I am going to fail anyway…” or “ … my language skills are too small…” restrain them further. In the past the youth required intensive coaching concerning their trips abroad. They got familiar with the habits and language of the host nation, learned about future chances and experiences to be made, how to find assistance in the case of unexpected problems and how to handle the daily challenges. There is a danger, that youth overestimate their abilities abroad while they are without conduct at night or during the week ends. A well planned and structured daily routine as well as a sensitive prep have proofed to be extremely helpful. The apprentices are supposed to improve their professional hard skills, but maybe of even greater importance are the unique soft skills acquired in an international setting:- Customs in job and leisure time- Communicating in a new language- Living in a new cultural setting- A new working atmosphere- A new conduct with each other- Making experiences as a “stranger” The youth are supposed to strengthen their self-confidence and to increase their professional horizon. Their motivation und expectations for their future will grow. They gain impressions of foreign cultures and new approaches to work. Their language skills in foreign and native language improve simultaneously.
