Mobilisierung und Schulung des Kollegiums zur Förderung der interkulturellen und kommunikativen Handlungskompetenz
Date du début: 1 juin 2015, Date de fin: 31 mai 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Our primary objective with this project is to familiarize ourselves with current methods and didactics of intercultural language learning. This goal will be achieved through careful selection of qualified and motivated participants to take part in the further education program, followed by training colleagues at our school. Our secondary objective is to facilitate students’ competence in communication and intercultural awareness, especially in terms of societal and international mobility. As a linguistic basis for cross-cultural communication, English offers a good foundation for students’ interactions in other cultural contexts. As such, six teachers of GTST who are teaching English and English bilingual lessons in secondary levels I and II are participating in the project. As part of the program, the teaching staff will participate in further education courses (Advanced Language & Methodology as well as Content Language Integrated Learning) in London, Brighton, Oxford and Galway. The content of the training will be oriented towards deepening our knowledge of methods to motivate students as well as the integration of modern media in language learning lessons. Following the further education courses, participants will lead an internal review designed to share knowledge and experiences gained from the courses as well as generate ideas on integrating them into our school system. Recommendations from the internal review will be put into action through class observations. The results of this project should contribute to improving the quality of the foreign language learning through current didactic and methodology. Ultimately the intercultural encounters and interaction with fellow European colleagues should also generate enthusiasm for greater collaboration in the future. These new networks will ideally increase engagement and interest in new exchange programs. Furthermore, the participants’ improved language competence should enhance the language authenticity and eloquence in their daily lesson content, delivering an overall improvement to the quality of the lessons. The intercultural experiences of the initial participants, as well as those of other colleagues in the future, should motivate our teaching staff and student body towards greater intercultural collaboration.
