Date du début: 1 juin 2015, Date de fin: 31 mai 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The Heinrich Böll Comprehensive School is a school (1700 students, 8 classes per grade) which is attended by children with multinational and multicultural family backgrounds. For 40 years, we have been taking students with migrant backgrounds. The percentage of these children and the variety of the countries of origin is steadily increasing. Our school is located in Chorweiler which is a socially deprived neighbourhood in Cologne. Many children come from financially disadvantaged families. This, among other things, becomes evident when we are planning school trips or projects with our students. Many families are not able to finance and oragnize study trips abroad without help. Due to this, the teachers of our school try to enable our students to make a wide range of possible experiences and encounters by organizing student exchanges, for example with trips to Barcelona, Eastbourne, Rio de Janeiro and Paris. In order to offer the pupils motivating, contemporary and modern lessons, we want to improve our teaching skills and learn more about current foreign language teaching methods and how to successfully integrate modern media into our English lessons. We are aiming to establish new contacts with teachers from other countries to form new networks for school partnerships. The aim of this partnership would be to increase students' interest in the target countries and the target language. On the one hand, this could be supported by providing authentic material from the target countries, on the other hand it could be enhanced through contact with exchange students in order to enable authentic communication situations and an intercultural / inter- European dialogue. The establishment of these partnerships could be supported by e - Twinning. Therefore we would like to increase our knowledge about e - Twinning and to gain the necessary skills in order to use it as a means of communication for our project . In addition, more and more inclusive learning groups are established at our school . Therefore, it is of great interest for us to be able to create learning opportunities for children of all ability levels . Especially for students with learning difficulties we need material for teaching English as they are taught on a lower ability level than the other students in their class. We are five colleagues who teach English. Two of us look back on many years of professional experience, the other three have only recently undergone teacher training and are therefore up to date concerning current foreign language methodology and didactics. We are active members of the Englisch conference and interested in distributing our newly acquired knowledge amongst our colleagues and to initiate and encourage new projects and to make the English lessons more motivating and enjoyable for teachers and students.
