Context/Background: Partners meet at a Leargas partner finding event. All organizations work with young people with fewer opportunities and identify youth mental health as an issue they all share. Number Profile of Participants: 18 young people and 6 leaders- from France, Scotland and Ireland. All the young people have fewer opportunities, including early school leavers, unemployed, struggle with discrimination, mental health issues and lack of confidence and low self esteem. Description of Activities:This project will explore mental health issues and how to mind your mental health. It will involve preparation work by each partner group and then an exchange for 6 days and culminate in the evaluation and dissemination of the results of the project. Methodologies: Group work and Outdoor Education Activities. Youthpass journals and the European Passport developed during each session will allow participants record and reflect on the learning achieved daily. Guest speaker Results and Impact Envisaged: Increased self esteem and confidence, new friends, travel and sharing of best practice. To achieves Action no.1 as set down by the Erasmus+ programme by increasing Youth mobility for young people with fewer opportunities andto achieve positive youth experience as set down in the national Strategy Better Outcomes Brighter Futures, The National Policy Framework for children and young people 2014- 2020 Potential long term benefit: The young people will have a greater understanding about how to mind their mental health. They will have experienced moving outside their comfort zone, experienced their stretch zone and understood resilience development. This is a life skill that allow them understand and cope with stress. They will also have experienced travelling outside their own communities and made new friends and learned about each other cultures, identified the similarities and differences in each others life experience. Also they will have experienced increased self esteem as a result of their involvement in this project. Staff teams will have benefited from the professional contact with sister organizations and from sharing methodologies and best practice.
