We have 324 women prisoners in our institution, 252 of them have been in prisons before. Therefore we think that rehabilitation activities of these women prisoners is not enough yet in prisons. When we look at the reasons of this relapse, their main reason has economic backgrounds. There is an article about the reasons behind relapse of the prisoners in Turkey, in this article when they asked the prisoners why they have committed a crime again, 33,4% of them answered “because of unemployment” and 9,6% of them answered “hopelessness for future”. These answers reveal the importance of vocational training and rehabilitation before and after release again. In his article M. Yücel points out general education and vocational education and economical straighten and employment straighten are crucial to prevent relapses among prisoner. Therefore, in our opinion, there should be activities or programs for women prisoners which improves their abilities for employment. There should be courses for women prisoners which could help their job set-up or help them while looking for a job. Education for communication and personnel improvement could be an advantage while looking for a job obviously. In our prison we already give vocational training to women prisoners. Our aims in this project is to give vocational training to prisoners in an interactive and effective way. We also would like to meet the qualifications of prisoners and market needs, and their adaptation the society more effectively and successfully as well. Apart from that, we want our staffs to have an understanding saying “I am a model for prisoners”. Therefore in our opinion, reaching the international standards for education methods could effect relapse of prisoners indirectly. This could drop the crime rates in the society and consequently will help us to reach more secure streets. Therefore we could spend our national income to other areas (like schools and colleges) instead of prisons. We are planning to select 8 people for each courses in abroad. People will be selected according to criteria (whether their job is related to the issue or not, their level of enthusiasm for the project topic, their potential contribution to the project, their experiences concerning to projects etc.) mentioned before. Our staffs who have been completed the courses and came back to the prison are going to give lectures to the convicts on the topics like market demands, settleing a job, important things while someone is looking for a job etc. Additionally we have been planning to inform the Ministry of Justice if our project is accepted so that they could make the organizations in other prisons to be able to make the same or similar projects as well.
