PROJET
TERMINÉ
In our project 10 mentally challenged, gardener/park warden, textile and thread processor and cleaner students, completing their special vocational school studies soon, will participate in a 3-week trade practice in the plants of a Spanish institution. The reception partner is the Aprosmo association that can be found in Motril, near Granada, with that we already realized a successful Leonardo trade practice in 2013. The organization has dealt with the development, vocational training and social attendance of mentally challenged people since 1977 but nowadays they lay more and more emphasis on the establishment of as independent way of life of people belonging to the target group as possible. They maintain such workplaces where mentally challenged workers produce quality, marketable goods that are commercialized. The Hungarian participants of the project will work in the ornamental garden, in the dressmaker’s shop and at the laundry and cleaning department.
We will implement our project within a consortium, where our organization, the Empíria Nonprofit Kft., acts as a project manager and a coordinator. We have dealt with implementation of EU mobility programmes for three years but our collaborators acted in similar sphere previously too and they are committed in making possible for people living in disadvantageous situation to get the opportunities provided by the mobility programmes. In the consortium two schools of Eger are our partners that deal with the elementary education and vocational training of students with learning difficulties, that are mentally retarded or that are in other disadvantageous situation and they decidedly seek the possibility for their graduating students to start in the competition on the labour market with equal opportunities. The primary task of the Unified Special Educational Methodological Institution, Vocational School and Boarding-School of Szalapart and of the Arany János Primary School, Vocational School and Boarding-School in the project is to choose the students for that the trade practice will have most return and to prepare them for the journey, for the adaptation to the foreign surroundings and for work expertly.
With the implementation of the programme our primary aim is that the participants, due to the development of their professional and personal competences, could start in their career with better opportunities. It is also our explicit intention to prove to society and to the decision-makers that mental deficiency does not necessarily mean disability to do quality work, thus it is their right to have place on the labour market.
At the present time the participants will have opportunity to complete their trade practice mainly within the school or in state institutions. As a result of our project the travellers will be able to form a notion of the work done in the profit-oriented sphere, they will practice their learnt profession and they will acquire new information, related to their profession and supplementing it. Hospitable and acceptable behaviour of Andalusian people and the new stimuli associated with the journey and with making acquaintances will help them to become more open in social sense, their personality can open. Their daily results achieved in work will strengthen their confidence and self-esteem.
We are planning the journey for September of 2014, for a period of three weeks. The plastic tunnels of the garden are located outside the town and the two other plants can be found in the centre of the town, in the same building. Because of the two sites of the practice, the language difficulties and the mental condition of the participants we deem necessary the participation of three attendants. With all these we deem assured that we will implement a programme useful and matterful for both the participants and the partners.
