This project was developed in the view of the fact that professional and social life is changing. This transition means increased standards to the employees in companies and institutions. It is a challenge for all parties involved in training and development of staff. These days there are missing employees with excellent language skills in the companies just like staff members having a sensitive feeling for different cultures and their specifics. The participants in the project ”Menschen machen den Unterschied – People with Spirit“ will be the future staff. 20 young industrial business management assistants and business assistants for office management would like to take the chance to continue their cultural and language studies. In the first week of their internship the participants will attend a language college. Besides an intensive language scheduling, getting to know the town where the internship takes place and immersing in a different culture play a prominent role. The participants will have a steady contact to young Europeans in the college with unforgettable impressions. During the second and third week of the stay, the trainees will work in selected companies. There they will get the opportunity to be guided by another business environment and to manage various professional tasks. It is also a question of developing dignity and respect for European colleagues. What is part of my culture? What is the difference between myself and other Europeans? What shall I know about the European business partners of my training company in order to understand their specific features? These are just a few questions waiting to be answered by the participants in this project. Moreover, they should like to have a successful start on the labour market by playing an active part in this relation. The development of the language skills will open new ways that were not in awareness so far. The participants will recognize that one collective language in business environment is vital for international trade. The participants will be influenced sustainably by this project. On the one hand they will develop personally to a not inconsiderable extent and their self-confidence will increase through just working in a foreign company. On the other hand they will have another view on their private and professional life in connection with experiences and lessons learned. They are well prepared to a European working environment. The companies that take on trainees and the delegating organization, the vocational school named SBSZ Ilmenau, will enlarge their level of awareness and their attractiveness for future trainees.
