MELTING POTES: MIGRATIONS
Date du début: 1 août 2015, Date de fin: 30 avr. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The Villages des Jeunes act for the social integration and the participation of all volunteers as a part of its action, in particular helping the socially disadvantaged, locally, nationally and internationally. Its objective is to allow people from different social and cultural situations to work together at something useful. Once in a while, we like to propose new activities, so new persons ang groups can join the project. Then, for the third year, we are going to organize a young european exchange . For its last two editions, the « Melting potes » exchange was about using artistical contents to let the participants meet and discover new cultures and new persons. In 2015, the exchange will be about Migrations. Since Vaunieres is an international meeting place, the hosting and the migrations are the very core of our daily work, and we would like to have a closer look at them. Furthermore, the ways people circulate impacts us in many different levels. While extreme right wing politics are rising, global unemployement increases, and people focus more and more on their own nations and identities, we believe that we should give the youth an opportunity to find places to talk and and reflect on the consequences and roots of the migrations. We should also offer them the opportunity to look at them as a chance (as it provides diversity, solidarity, tolerance, encounters, etc.) and not only as issues. Then, 20 young adults, coming from Estonia, Italy, Belgium and France will meet in Vaunières ( Hautes-alpes) from august the 3rd to the 24th (21 days) to debate, meet, exchange on these topics. This project is for any person who wishes to live a collective and intercultural experience and is interested by the Migration topics. The group will be a mix of persons with different genders, social backgrounds and life history.. During the project, the participants will talk together about the consequences of the migrations, using differents workshops based on non formal education methods. We will also propose intercultural workshops in order to discover one-another with their positive aspects, to quit stereotypes and prejudices and stay curious. The participants will live into an « intercultural bath », sharing collective life with some other international groups (international workshops, scout groups). During the second part of the project, participants will create their own workshops and offer to the groups hosted in the Vaunières and to the area's inhabitants to join them. This will increase the participants's leading skills and create links between all those persons. Throughout the project, the young participants will discover the life of an association and discover many different ways for the youth to commit in something, including the different kind of volunteering. The project's final – called « Melting Potes »- will take place on the 22nd of august. Locals will be invited to discover the work, thoughts and wishes of the participants about migrations via some conferences, debates, workshops, international meals and some concerts. Participants will live in tents in the hamlet of Vaunières. They'll participate to the cooking, the dishes-washing and the house-cleaning. The hamlet is located in the Hautes-alpes, in France, at 1200meters. Surrounded by wild nature and mountains, it was abandonned in the early 20th century, and was rebuilt by teenagers workshops during the last 50 years. Nowadays, its an international and social center, hosting international volunteers, french teenagers, families and friends. This project will increase links within the local area by creating connections with local associations, increasing the offer in rural activities and create places to meet and talk about political topics for everyone. In a European level, Melting potes creates new partnerships and enforces the existing ones. It also contributes to the creation of an international youth network. Back in their own countries, participants will spread the conclusions and ideas of this exchange within their associations or private networks, thus giving a future to the project and what it created.
