TERMINÉ
El Castell School is the only school in Albalat dels Sorells. The school has 410 students from 3 to 12 years old; it has a specific classroom for 8 students with communication and language problems.
The teaching staff group are unified and highly motivated whose main priorities are doing daily work to the best of their abilities and setting up an excellent work group with a wide conciliatory sense, using reflection and self-criticism, these skills increase the capability of teachers to change and improve. The school is very worried about the improvement of the quality of its service and we move forward from the knowledge of our strengths and the acknoledgement of our weakness
Nowadays, El Castell school is participating in a one of a kind holistic language project that integrates the three languages taught at school: Spanish, Valencian and English.
NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS AND PROFILE:
The participating teachers are the two school English teachers and five other teachers that during this school year have been participating in different intermediate English courses. The other participant is the coordinator of the Quality management system who is also the European and international projects coordinator. All these teachers are motivated on improving their own skills to benefit the whole school community.
ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
- To train five class teachers in language courses to improve their English skills
- To advance in our Integrated language project by the training of CLIL Methodology for one of the English school teachers
- To observe the quality management system in our partner Finish school for improving ours
USED METHODOLOGY
- We are using participatory techniques for planning and develop this project. It’s important to highlight that one of the most important aims of this project is to innovate and experiment new teaching methodologies like CLIL
DESCRIPTION OF THE RESULTS AND EXPECTED IMPACT
- Two of our class teachers will get B2 English level and will teach in English Physical Education, Music, Arts and some Science and social studies lessons using English as a vehicular language
- One English teacher will learn about CLIL methodology and practice with our students, she will teach CLIL to other teachers in school
- All the class primary teachers will plan their languages lessons (Spanish, Valencian and English) following the integrated work language methodology we are developing at the school, emphasizing the importance of the culture of innovation and experimenting with new teaching methods.
- One of the English teachers in the school is the quality manager system, who observes and studies the quality management system in our Finish partner school. She shares her thoughts to the head team and altogether we implement it into our quality management system.
- Seven teachers in our school will improve their English language skills
- When our students finish their studies, they will have at least the A1 level of English and they will use the European language portfolio to evaluate themselves
- The students will use the Europan language portfolio to evaluate their skills in the different languages taught in the school.
- All the school teachers will be motivated to follow the way in which we have begun to attempt to improve the level of English competence in the school
The satisfaction degree of our users will be increased because the quality of the service received is higher and for there is a better system for giving answers to their needs and requests
The prestige of the school as an educational institution which is open to Europe and the world, is ready to change and looking for nothing less than excellence.
LONG TERM BENEFITS
- All the teachers in El Castell School will get, at least, the B2 English level
- All the teachers will be able to teach Science and Social Studies using English and CLIL Methodology
