INTERNATIONAL DIMENSION OF COOPERATIVE LEARNING TO EDUCATE FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN A NATURAL ENVIRONMENTPrimary School Domžale gives special attention to the preservation of nature (in projects such as Eco School, Earth Friendly School, School Eco Garden, ENO - Tree planting Day, the school parliament and others). Each year we organize cooperational project Eco Day, where all students and school workers (sometimes also parents and representatives of local organizations) deepen the chosen environmental topic through various activities. Locally and in the national umbrella assosiations (eg. Eco School) sustainable actions of Primary School Domžale have been recognized and appreciated, so we would like to internationalize our positive experience and present our examples of good practice of ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) to our partners abroad. We would like to obtain further guidelines for the implementation of ESD into the entire school curriculum, as we believe this field is crucial for creating our youth’s positive attitude to nature now and in the future. Our project of learning mobility includes many different activities we have planned with the school administration to upgrade school’s environmental policies. We have made an action plan to determine activities and tasks of the participating teachers before the mobilities, the formalities during preparation, presentations of good sustainable practices of the school to partners during mobilities and key dissemination and transfer of new experiences to the work of our institution and the larger community, on local as well as national level through various seminars for teachers and the eco project coordinators. The programme of our work and our progress will be evaluated by our school administration in annual reports, as well as by the national agency in charge. We have chosen three professional mobilities in different geographical environments which strengthen the competences of cooperational learning and exploration through active participation of the attendees. They will thus gain new experience in work and interactive learning for sustainable development, supported also by different forms of cross-curricular and cooperative learning. Some teachers have expressed interest for improving communication competence in the English language, so in the first year of the project they will take part in an English refresher course. The main mobility is teambuilding in a natural environment, supported with environmental content of field exploration in Italy. The participants in this mobility are teachers that have shown great interest in the Erasmus+ project and are very active in different sustainable activities of the school and projects that promote cooperational learning and encourage self-initiative among students. These include the mentors of older and younger students at the school parliament who will present new experiences and work methods to class representatives and they in turn will pass them on to the rest of the students. Also attending will be the union representitive who will transfer practical experience to the rest of the teachers through similar workshops of teambuilding, aided by other participants, including two English teachers who will help with communication and a colleague who speaks Italian and is also a project leader. Furthermore they will be joined by the coordinator of the eco school for younger students, the organizer of school meals who also leads different science activities and clubs, and the school psychologist who runs most projects for strengthening positive relationships, mediation and humanitarian work and she is looking forward to new ideas and experiences of cooperative learning on an international level. The participants of this mobility are planning to prepare different nature camps for students, so the gained experiences of environmental exploration and social skills will greatly help them. ESD includes a very broad field of study so new approaches and forms of pedagogical work (cooperative learning, field exploration, problem solving etc.) will be appreciated and shared with other colleagues and especially, students. We are aware that positive attitude of teachers is a key to success in all pedagogical transfering of information and active competences from teachers to students. Therefore we believe this mobility will help us enhance and deepen relationships among the participants, who will transfer new practices and experiences through similar workshops to the rest of their colleagues. Our desire is that our students experience the pedagocical enthusiasm of the teachers, because positive attitude to nature is a key to nature preservation and we would like to impart the concern for preserving nature for the world to come. With this in mind we would like to meet international partners to continue to cooperate in European projects (KA2, eTwinning, Job Shadowing) connected to ESD.
