Mediterranean souls and sounds

The project is called "Mediterranean Souls and Sounds". The coordinator school is Liceo G. Galilei from Civitavecchia, Italy, with the partnership of Erunal Sosyal Bilimler Lisesi from Antalya,Turkey. Both of the schools are located on the coast of the Mediterranean which has been a source of inspiration in the emergence of the project. At first glance, the two countries seem to have different cultures .But both of the cities are located on the Mediterranean coast and moreover the history of Antalya and Civitavecchia dates back to Roman times. This suggest that they may have common features in their life style a and culture. We propose a partnership focused on improving adolescents' ability to cooperate and broadening their point of view to to acquire an understanding of a different society. The aims of the project are : . to promote motivation in learning a foreign language, . to use English as a vehicle of communication, . to promote motivation in using innovative ICT effectively, . to promote co-opreation of people coming from different cultural backgrounds, . to improve students 'musical skills, . to improve students' ability in composing a multicultural choir . to promote self -discipline, self-confidence . to improve students' collaboration and interaction skills. The project will be carried out by teachers from both schools. The teachers who are involved in the project are Music and English Literature treachers from G.Galilei. Music,English and a Geography teacher will carry out the project at Erünal Sosyal Bilimler Lisesi in Antalya. The target group is the students at both schools. The age of students are 14-19. The activites we plan to carry out within the project are: . to implement a questionnaire at both schools before starting the project to have an idea what the students' of participating schools know about culture, music, language about the other country and expectations of teachers and students involved . to implement a questionnaire at the end of first year to evaluate whether the planned objectives have been reached . to implement a questionnaire at the end of the project to make an evaluation of whole project . to form choirs at both schools . to make periodical transnational meetings involving teachers and students to choose, learn and practise the songs which are to be performed in Italian, Turkish and Latin. . to organize and perform music events with the participation of both schools' students, teachers,school administrators, families, local authorities and local press. . to build up a blog and insert the activities into the blog.(photos,videos ,etc) . to insert the activities of the project on both school's web sites (photos,videos, etc) The expected results of the project are: . To reach one of Erasmus Plus' projects aims which is life long learning . to provide continuity to the cultural interaction between the two countries that started with a previous Comenius project . to provide students, who have fewer opportunities compared to their peers , with the chance to go abroad . to increase the competence of using a foreign language . to improve different perspectives towards life among students who get to know a different cultur . to improve musical skills . to increase digital learning In the long run ,the project aims to have promoted to the internationalisation of education.
