School for nurses Mlinarska (Škola za medicinske setre Mlinarska) through MEDITRAIN project aims to improve professional knowledge and skills of 22 students and 10 teachers and staff of the School. Vocational training of students will be carried out in the partner institution VITALIS in Germany in April 2015 for two week period and professional development of teachers and school associates will be carried out for one week period in Italy in May 2015 at partner institution University of Padua, i.e. Univerity's School of Medicine and Chirurgia.
Students which will participate in the project attend regular educational programmes for nurse/medical technician.
Objectives of the project:
-for students: to improve vocational skills and acquire new knowledge through practical training in Germany in order to strengthen employability, personal development, learning about work conditions and obligations, facilitating the transition into the labor market after the completion of vocational training, acquisition of affirmative approach to the work tasks, encouragement of further training;
-for teachers/school associates: introduction and adoption of new teaching and training methods from abroad, strengthening international action, building a relationship between different sectors for sharing knowledge, make influence on improvement of educational programmes in Croatia, exploring the tertiary education in Italy and comparison with the secondary occupations for nurses in Croatia, recognizing of differences in legislation related with vocational education, introduction with medicine branches (oncology, neurosurgery, children and women health, thoracal and vascular surgery) that School plans to include in curriculum, get insight into health tourism in Italy and the implementation of good practices in Croatia (sustainability of the project). This project should be carried out in order to exchange good practices, enhance and improve vocational education and training of the School for nurses Mlinarska which is leading professional institution for the education of nurses in Croatia.
MEDITRAIN project will be implemented in 3 phases: preparation of mobility, mobility implementation and project monitoring.
Activities of the 1st phase: Coordinator will develop a plan for project implementation, all participants, accompanying teachers and reserves will be selected by predefined criteria, coordinator will define detailed Work programme (WP) with partners according to the interests of the participants and objectives of the project. WP will be designed in such a way so that all participants gain insight into theoretical and practical knowledge, educational structure abroad, training opportunities and personal career development abroad. The project coordinator will organize the meetings with all project participants (students+reserves+accompanying teachers, teachers/school associates) and students' parents to introduce them with the obligations, partners and documentation. All participants will be obliged to participate in language and cultural preparations for the purpose of successfully conducting professional training and practice. Host partners will conduct activities related with implementation of the WP, accommodation, meals, local transportation, finding companies/hospitals/medical institutions for performing of professional practice for students.
Activities of 2nd phase: selected participants will take part in the implementation of mobility. Mobility will be carried out according to preagreed WP. Professional training and practice will last 8 hours per day, after which participants will write daily reports with all acquired knowledge and skills. In the evening, host partners will organize social and cultural activities in order to introduce participants with the countries in which they carry out their professional practice and training, introduce them with customs, culture and way of living.
Activities of 3rd phases: project monitoring will start immediately upon approval of the of the project, and public will be informed about the project through the website of the School. Employees, associates, students of the School, parents will be notified about project results through bulletin boards, parent-teacher meetings, sessions of teachers' council, hosting events, through conferences, seminars where School staff participates. Upon completion of the mobility, project results will be disseminated with the same dissemination methods.
Project activities are in line with Europe 2020 strategy as it ensures the mobility of students in VET and linking education with the labor market.Also, project is in line with The Bruges Communiqué on enhanced European Cooperation in VET 2011-2020 strategy, particularly as it supports learning by doing, internationalization and strengthening the cooperation of all participants in VET, exchanging of good practices to enhance institutions participating in the project.
