Media For Youth Work: Youth Journalism

The objective is improving competencies and skills of youth workers who want to use media tools in their daily work and contribute to cooperation, mutual understanding between EU and neighboring countries as well as promoting democratic reforms, freedom of expression, tolerance and active citizenship in SE Europe.The training will improve skills and enable 32 multipliers from 8countries to initiate public discussions about civil society and democracy issues, document them with the help of creative media tools and actively exchange information on the European level with the help of webTV. The participants will explore the above mentioned issues from the perspective of EU enlargement and essential reforms that have to be undertaken by SEEU countries in order to be considered for the EU membership in the future. The seminar will stabilize and enlarge the European Youth4Media network. It will support European cooperation of NGO´s and youth institutions. European partner institutions together with organizations from SEEU will work on establishing cross-border networks of youth media work.Building up a network of youth media multipliers will allow to initiate and maintain the cross-border internet-TV programs and exchange different points of view on acute social issues (EU neighboring policy, enlargement and further democratization of SEEU). Involvement of the EU neighbors fromSEEU is looked as essential element for highlighting coherence and impact of European youth policy, securing cooperation with neighboring countries, and promoting intercultural dialogue and tolerance in Europe. Trainings will be conducted by qualified media specialists from the Youth4Media Network that are trained at international trainings supported by YiA. They will use developed and approved modules which insure a unified standard of qualification. Theoretical presentations will be intertwined with interactive group work, workshops and hands on experience increasing media products.
