Materiality
Date du début: 5 mai 2012,

Wyspa Progress Foundation-a leading Polish Contemporary Art Institution, in cooperation with one of the biggest Portugal “University in Tomar” and growing “W-est” Italian art association is going to develop the valuable project “Materiality” with a wide perspective for a future development. The idea of “Materiality” connects four internationally active culture partners to work towards new perspective on what is materiality, importance of public space and post-industrial sites of revitalization. The project represents different modes of industrialization in Europe and of reformulation of its uses. It will observe, analyse and produce new knowledge on Materiality through these settings. It's intended to result in shared productions, mobility of artists and curators, theoretical elaboration and distribution of the research outcome. The project asks a timely question on the moment when Europe is fighting deficits and chasing unstable currencies, filling debts and agreeing or not over bailouts. Moreover tries to access both today’s reality and the political history of the material. One of the main goals is to bring together art, architecture, design, science, archeology, industrial heritage and natural findings, interested in how art contributes to the field of the material by the way it describes, represents it or allows and documents its operation. The project brings long-term results as it contributes to general understanding of localized practices, discovers new values in material culture, contributes to better recognition of respective locations and thus supports future developments. This international cooperation ensure a chance to contribute to European society with wide range of cultural activities (exhibitions, concerts), education programs (workshops, conferences), artistic cooperation (residential program, creating works of art for the need of two high class exhibitions) and knowledge transfer and development (curatorial meetings, books editions)
