MASTER ON EDUCATION POLICIES FOR GLOBAL DEVELOPMENT

This project defines a workplan for developing a Joint Degree Master Programme entitled “Education Policies for Global Development” (GLOBED) according to the principles of the Bologna Declaration. The new envisaged Master has as its main goal the education of both researchers and practitioners in the field of educational development in order to provide the necessary skills and competencies to carry out research and intervention projects on education policy for global development in different regions.GLOBED aims to become a reference Master in Europe by joining a consortium composed by some of the leader European universities in this field. It aims to build a European know-how about education policies for development that potentially can benefit researchers and technical staff working in international aid agencies, governmental bodies and civil society organisations operating in developing countries. It also aims to attract and provide training for consultant specialists working for different EU cooperation projects and policies. To achieve these objectives the project defines the following strategies:• A complete work programme to construct a European curriculum in the field of education policy for global development.• The launch of a number of communication mechanisms, including a complete website, a Master’s e-Newsletter and other internet based tools• The development of strong links with associated partners from international organisations, aid agencies and civil society actors• New teaching and pedagogical strategies including an intensive use of online materials and the provision of intensive courses with the participation of staff from all institutions• A complete Business plan to ensure the financial sustainability of the Master• A quality evaluation plan to ensure the academic validity of the project• A strategy to disseminate the new programme in several international foraThe Master aims to start running in the academic year 2014-15.
