"More Vocational Education and Training in English" In the year 2006-07, our college launched a first experimental multilingual programme. Since then, we have been renewing and extending it steadily. This year 2014-15, our current multilingual programme includes 5 teachers who teach in English 44 hours per week of their subject lessons to 160 students. The effort of these teachers is being really huge and our college is determined to support them in their work on our multilingual programme. The direct objective of this project is precisely to give support to these teachers by making easier their attendance at two training courses on CLIL ( "Content Language Integrated Learning" ) methodology, so that their work could be more efficient and effective. To achieve it, in this project, we ask for funding to support the participation of two of those teachers in two different and specific CLIL courses for teachers in Secondary Education, to be hold in the UK this summer. These training courses, which last two weeks, would help them in the preparation and final delivery of their specific subject lessons in English. Both of them focus on practical examples of the use of the CLIL methodology. In addition, they offer activities to strengthen language skills. And, at the end, participants also have to deliver a a micro-lesson which has been prepared during the course, and where they could apply what they have learnt. The first and most direct impact of these courses would be given on the participants. During the courses, they would improve their English. They would meet other participating teachers and could share similar experiences. And that would ease future collaborations in European projects. When the teachers come back, they could apply the techniques learnt when preparing and delivering their own lessons. In this way, they would be more efficient and that would also increase their motivation to continue in the multilingual programme. We also hope to have more teachers interested in it, as they would explain first-hand their experience and they would share the new materials and references obtained. But the ultimate goal is the benefit of our students. All the possible enhancements of our teachers skills as well as the support of our multilingual programme should improve the learning process of our students, which should be more effective and have higher quality. Consequently, our students would appreciate it more and they would accept better receiving some of their subject lessons in English. In the end, they could be more confident and competent in its use. A good command of English will give our students more opportunities of knowledge and more possibilities of getting a job in an increasingly globalised and competitive world, especially in periods of crisis, like the current one.
