Many Opportunities Real Equality
Date du début: 1 févr. 2015, Date de fin: 31 janv. 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

CESIE carries daily social interventions in the city centre of Palermo. Its context presents many facets: - High percentage of migrants and their sons which represents the second generations of migration, - High percentage into the local community of young people living in a very isolated condition Both target groups are in a condition of social exclusion and they are suffering of low education, early school leaving, unemployment, economic difficulties and criminal & illegal attitudes which make their condition worse. “All people have the right to choose their future” is a fundamental right stated in all modern Constitutions, but in those contexts, it is denied. Many Opportunities Real Equality (MORE) aims at giving them some the chances to improve their self and cultural position, offering a unique learning experience that might stimulate a personal, mental and social development. For these young people, MORE foreseen a short term EVS. Most of them have entered already in a learning path promoted by CESIE and they have been participated in local volunteering activities and some youth exchanges; therefore we consider they are ready for a longer experience abroad. We have already identified most of them and the project foresees to involve 12 volunteers for 2 months of EVS. Another target group participating to CESIE promotional activities are young people entering in a special category called NEET: youngsters who finished their studying or training path and are facing huge difficulties in entering the job market. During several meetings at CESIE office they expressed their wish for new experiences and competences to change their actual condition and MORE will address their needs. The project foresees to involve 12 NEET in this long term mobility (6 months) The total number of participants in the project is 24 volunteers, split into 2 rounds which won’t overlap: 12 in the first round, (6 long term and 6 short term) and 12 in the second round (6 long term and 6 short term). The partnership for the project is composed by 9 associations from several Countries: France, Slovenia, Germany, Portugal, Serbia and Greece for long term and France, Portugal and Turkey for short term. Each partner will host the same number of volunteers: 2 for long term (1 per round) and 4 for short term (2 per round). Volunteers will be involved in different activities according to the receiving organization. In general, the common link among all partners is the work on social field: take care of disadvantaged people, support staff in the daily activities, and carry out administrative issues. In detail: Short term EVS organisations will involve volunteers mainly in practical tasks as they are aware that the secret strength of practical duties is to offer a two-sided learning experience. On one level, volunteers have the opportunity to try different kinds of hands-on activities. These practical skills can be used later in life (for example painting, cleaning, cooking, using tools, etc). On another side, practical skills are accompanied by a wide variety of soft skills as self-esteem, autonomy, team work. The organisations hosting long term EVS volunteers foresee social activities and practical tasks linked to specialized sectors and employability (project management, communication, ICT; cultural and fund raising events). The project will be co-developed by all partners. CESIE will inputs, suggestions and feedback in every phase of the project. The methods used for the whole project are based on the active participation and learning of volunteers and beneficiaries promoted through non-formal and informal activities (Experiential, Cooperative and Peer learning approaches). We will foster the dialogue for reaching the unanimity in each important decision through regular communications and skype meetings between all partners. However, we reserve the final decision in case of necessity or hard contrast. MORE expects to have a sustainable impact on several levels: Volunteers: huge range of skills and competencies that will foster personal, social and professional development through carefully planned non-formal activities and informally through their free time activities. Sending organization: different organizational and managerial methodologies through the exchange of good practices. Receiving organisations: new perspectives and ideas, new and different contributions to their daily activities; new tools for monitoring and evaluating volunteers’ paths; Local communities: European awareness, intercultural values, solidarity and tolerance, active citizenship. MORE will have long term effects since participants will gain skills and competences which will help them in their future life and projects. Sending and hosting organizations will benefit from new partners networks and exchange of best practices to improve their organization.
