Making a better school by European creativity

The start-up of our international project in arts education was based on a period of evaluation with our team. We concluded that we already teach a lot in the field of arts education in our school, but there’s not enough cohesion between the classes yet. Our school has a great will and is motivated to start a cooperation with other European schools. Our school board and the pilot group have already set up some contacts via e-twinning. With international classes we want to obtain new opportunities in arts education and create more harmony between the different classes and teachers. Another target of our school is to create a rich and versatile interpretation for of our new drama room. And also work on a creative flow from our new nursery school to our primary school. We have one teacher who has a lot of experience with international activities and drama lessons. He will take part in a creative summer course, called: “international teacher training course on drama in education”, from 17th to 26th of August 2015 in Croatia. Three teachers from our team are taking part in job shadowing in Galway from 17th to 20 November 2015; that school has a lot to offer to us: respect for Irish and European traditions and they are also very intense in their musical activities. From 19th to 22 April 2016 three other teachers will go on job shadowing in a school in San Sebastian; that school already has an integrated project in arts education for the whole school, based on a portfolio. With our job shadowing in San Sebastian the school can provide us with ideas and examples for a better integration and cooperation regarding musical activities in our school. As a conclusion we would like to keep our existing international contacts and create new relations with other schools in Europe. On the short term we want to develop a structural partnership with the other international schools. In the near future we want to grow to a KA2-project, possibly with the Irish and Spanish school and possibly with other, new partners we will learn to know while working together on this project. Through this international partnership, we want to grow toward a coherent functionality in arts education in our own school.
