MakeDox Creative Documentary Film Festival

MakeDox- Creative Documentary Film Festival will be organized from 20th to 26th of August 2016 in Skopje. The festival has two screening venues- Kurshumli An, 16th century caravan serai that is our main venue and the Youth Cultural Center in Skopje. Approximately 23 feature length and 40 short creative documentaries will be presented organized in 3 competitive sections: International Competition Program; Newcomers Competition Program by First or Second-Time Director; Competitive Program of European Students Documentary Films . All films screened at the festival will compete for a special festival award- Film with Best Moral Approach. Non-competitive programs will consist of: Short Documentary Films Program; Program for Children and Youth and Retrospective Program of one outstanding documentary filmmaker. Apart the screenings, we'll organize a MakeDox + program consisting of: storytelling workshop for children and youth; storytelling workshop for audience, participants and film professionals; 6 debates (case studies) with film authors, guests and journalists named Doc Talks under the Fig Tree; Q &A sessions with the film authors; master class by the director of the retrospective program; one photography exhibition and several musical events.The theme of the seventh edition will be “Storytelling”. We tend to examine, discuss, expose and play with the specifics of documentary storytelling as basic aspect of every filmmaking.To outreach to a special age groups of audience, we’ll organize two free of charge open air screenings in the Skopje City Park before and after the festival: two days of “Worm Up” screenings for students and youths and two days “Golden Age” screenings for elderly citizens. The festival turnout, together with these two “satellite” events we expect to be around 6.000 people.
