The project aims to (1) further develop the interaction between different faculties at the UM in teaching and research on the EU and strengthen links with local and regional partners in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany; (2) reach out to civil society; (3) contribute to the further development of innovative teaching tools in the field of European Studies both at (under)graduate and postgraduate level. The output will include (1) interdisciplinary publications with both the UM and external partners involved; (2) a Centre website, a directory of experts and a contact database (3) a lecture series for students and civil society (4) increased use of innovative teaching methods (5) a strengthening of the European dimension of the UM PhD training programme (which is organised in Brussels and aimed at professionals engaging in doctoral research). The various initiatives will further contribute to the UM’s reputation as a multi- and interdisciplinary centre of EU expertise and innovative teaching. It will also lead to greater contact between academia and civil society actors, and to closer transnational cooperation among the various partners in the regional cluster.
