Background to project Some of our students are from disadvantaged backgrounds and may never get the opportunity or luxury of travelling abroad other than the Erasmus+ Programme. This programme allows the students to fulfill ambitions and inspires them to achieve to their full potential. As a result of Erasmus+ programme the participants are frequently liaising with course tutors, which results in encouragement they may not otherwise receive. After extensive research on Tenerife 's tourism industry, we discovered our students have the acquired skills to fill a gap in the labour market. Tenerife has 3 million tourists visiting each and does not have the training facilities to meet the demands of the tourism industry. There is a need in Tenerife for fully qualified Beauty & Body Therapist and professionals with up to date IT and general business skills. LWETB Post Leaving Certificate courses can provide this service through Erasmus+ Programme. This project will improve the level of key competences and skills, with particular regard to their relevance for the labour market within the Hair and Beauty Industry . Objectives The role of the LWETB will be to improve the following objectives Prepare the students by: • encourage future mobility across Europe; • enhanced employability and improved career prospects; • increased sense of initiative and entrepreneurship; • increased self-empowerment and self-esteem; • improved foreign language competences; • enhanced intercultural awareness; • • better awareness of the European project and the EU values; • increased motivation for taking part in future (formal/non-formal) education or training after the mobility period abroad. Sending Organisation: LWETB will be responsible for preparing participants and organizing activities for all aspects of the experience to ensure the project runs smoothly. Our European Projects Department will communicate with TJT on a regular basis. Hosting Organisation: Tenerife Job Training Centre's role is to secure suitable work placement and safe accommodation for our participants. They will communicate with our European Projects Department on a regular basis. 24 Students from LWETB will travel to Tenerife on a 21 day work placement mobility. 12 Beauty Therapy Students & 12 Business Studies Students. 4 accompanying persons in total (LWETB staff members).. 2 accompanying persons per mobility. Preparatory meetings with students and host organizations Preparatory meetings will be held on a regular basis prior to departure in order to prepare students and to keep them informed of what will be expected of them with regards to professionalism , time keeping, behaviour etc. Meetings will be arranged with host organizations through skype calls, emails etc and then on th The mobility will take place in 2 flows. 6 Beauty Therapy and 6 Business Students will go to Tenerife for 3 weeks work placement. 2 accompanying persons per mobility. 1 accompanying person will travel out and 1 accompanying will travel back with participants to help ease their nerves, ensure they settle in and have necessary paperwork signed and stamped by sending and hosting organizations. The second mobility will take place in where 6 Beauty Therapy and 6 Business Students will go to Tenerife for 3 weeks work placement. 2 accompanying persons per mobility.1 accompanying person will travel out and 1 accompanying will travel back with participants to help ease their nerves, ensure they settle in and have necessary paperwork signed and stamped by sending and hosting organizations. Beauty Therapy participants will be placed in 4 & 5 star Spa Hotels & Day Spas where luxury treatments are on offer for an exclusive clientele. Business Studies participants will be placed in law firms, accountancy companies, tourist information offices, hotel and spa receptions. LWETB Business Studies 5M2102 QQI Level 5 Award Business Administration 5M2468 QQI Level 5 Award Both Level 5 QQI(Quality Qualifications Ireland) Business Courses 5M2102 & 5M2468 are designed to help students develop the essential financial and computer knowledge which form the basis for a career in industry, commerce or the public sector. As each course comprises both theoretical and practical modules, and students will gain an understanding of both manual and integrated accounting software. There is a focus on the functional areas of accounting, finance, business, customer service, and office software which influence business success. Graduates of this course leave with the necessary knowledge and skills required for clerical positions such as Receptionist, Srecretary, Personal Assistant.
