One of the main objectives of Loesje is to stimulate participation in the public dialogue by citizens of all layers in society, active citizenship and a vivid public discussion on how we live together in society and where we want to go. Participation, dialogue, intercultural understanding, engagement and concern about important values as human rights, democracy and environment are all part of the base on which our organization is built and the wherefore we do our activities. We find freedom of speech extremely important, and actively work to stimulate and encourage creative expression and social innovation especially among young people. Our activities aim to stimulate the public dialogue as well as sensitize people to important things in society, may it be political ones, issues of living together i.e. migration, environmental issues, etc. Climate change and sustainability are topics that we deal with often in our activities. The main target group of the activities in which the volunteer will be involved, is youngsters. As Loesje is settled in a multicultural part of Berlin, the volunteers will also be meeting people with migration background. We are hosting and sending EVS volunteers in Berlin since 2005 and will in 2015 host two volunteers, from Egypt and Italy. They will be active in a wide range of activities, international as well as local. They will learn to be Loesje trainers giving creative text writing workshops, doing final editing (the selection of Loesje posters), graphical design in the special Loesje way and to be able to transmit the values of Loesje. The EVS-ers will work with each other in that way they can learn from and with each other and besides they can stimulate each other. They will also have separate tasks and responsibilities. This we want to discuss with the EVS-ers, so that the tasks fits their needs and challenges they want to take. It will mean that they have a certain freedom to create their own project inside the EVS project.
