Local work with young and senior people with fewer opportunities

The NGO Centar “Fenix“ was founded in 1997 in Sanski Most as an organization focused on mother/children’s health issues. It later developed a broad range of social services for the elderly, ill and indigent persons. Fenix advocates for an improvement in health protection for women, children and the family along with an enhancement in the social conditions of underprivileged categories including the elderly, ill and indigent. We are meeting center for old and young, study center about giving birth, life with a focus on self-awareness of own needs, values, strength. Center for teaching and researching about life and destinies and a center for help and support in crucial moments in women’s lives and their families. Center for help women and men, who find their self on the edge on their existence with a focus on mutual help. The current staff of the Center “Fenix” consists of 30 people working in two Houses: “Fenix” with daily activities long-term project in daily basis; and “Zlatna jesen” – 24 hours Home and care for elderly people. Our employees are people with different backgrounds (refugees, displaced person, single mothers, etc.) and have different degrees, mostly are medical staff – midwives, nurses, etc., predominantly women. Target group that we generally work with are:- Pregnant women and their families, young mothers, breastfeeding mothers newborn and small children, around 100 per Year - Elderly people, people with, homeless people and people with health disabilities, with social disabilities, around 300 and more per Year- Children from, especially from 2-7 age (20-25 Children in a group)- We offering also services for all generations, regardless of their national, racial, or political Identity or gender.We can host in the same time 4 Volunteers.It is a long term EVS project type from September 2016 and the volunteer is Anna VITTET, a French motivated volunteer.The project seeks a society of justice, peace and human solidarity. He struggles against the various forms of violence, exploitation and injustice and vehicle value tolerance, fairness and promotes inclusion. All these themes are at the heart of the concerns of European youth, it seems important to develop meetings and discussion spaces, through the EVS.Thus, these topics will be discussed during various activities with local youth participating in activities of the association and mentioned during organized events.Project objectives:Improve learning outcomes, Improvement intercultural awareness, improvement of language skills, Strengthening self-esteem and self-resposibility.The expected results for this project will be around the added value a volunteer will bring through new ideas, additional support time and specific skills they could have to the local host environment. On the other hand the volunteers will deeply benefit from the project to improve existing skills as well as gaining new ones for her personal development.For this specific project, the sending and coordinating organisation is Solidarités Jeunesses.
