LISTENING TO CULTURES

This project had the aim to explore innovative approaches and good practices in the area of teaching listening comprehension skills in the field of foreign language teaching and adult learning. First of all, each partner's team conducted a needs analysis survey and the overall conclusions helped all partners realize the particular expectations they had to take into consideration. The materials produced by teachers were a matter of a dialectical elaboration inside each group and in many cases piloted in the classroom. The process offered the participants (language teachers and adult learners) the chance to develop a deeper understanding of one other’s culture and ways of thinking and working, as the selection and elaboration of the materials had as a criterion to reflect the culture of the target languages taught by the members of the partnership, which were all language teaching institutions. Audiovisuial material was produced in 6 languages - Italian, Romanian, Greek, Danish, Estonian, Turkish- most of them less wide-spread languages. The results were the exchange of good practices and methods on internet based listening comprehension activities for adult language learners. An on-line educational platform was developed in all partners’ web sites. At least 3 audio materials (extracts from the internet or not) on every language level (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1,C2) were produced for each of the target languages. The six partners’ meetings (which included 113 mobilities, number which exceeded the expected one) were an essential part of the partnership, as they offered the opportunity to exchange experiences on language teaching, share parts of our cultures and feelings on the common European Identity.
