LIS & DSF BFFS (Brotherhood for future of students)
Date du début: 17 janv. 2015, Date de fin: 16 avr. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The main object of the project was to provoke partnership bewteen the National Union of Icelandic Students (LÍS) and the National Union of Danish Students (DSF) which would mutually benefit both unions. The unions have a similar purpose, to work for students, provide a national platformand unite student voices. The two unions represent a wide group of students studying in various schools (mainly universities) botn within the two countries and abroad. The idea of this project was born due to the relationship developed with DSF prior to the project. International officers from LIS had then been working closely with DSF in the European Students Union. Early on, it became very clear that a a cooperation would we be very meaningful and educational for both parties. The project involves sending the executive committee of LIS to the DSF headquarters in Denmark to strengthen the relationship and values of both unions. The LIS executive committee consists of 15 people and a 15 person executive committee will welcome them on behalf of DSF. When the project becomes reality, 30 young people with a passion for education, will join their forces to empower the voice of students within the higher educational system in the Nordic countries. LIS is a fairly new National Union, while the older and more developed DSF has been active since 1932 thus obviously has more experience. Therefore the idea, that originally came from our work within ESU (European Students Union), was to gain knowledge from our older cousins and meanwhile work with them to empower both unions in the battles that we both face in our educational systems. We believe that even though, the project first came about because of a mentor-apprentice idea it has developed way beyond that. The idea now is to build a bond between the unions, so we can work together on larger student matters and therefor have a stronger voice. We believe that the now stronger cooperation between LÍS and DSF will provide students with even better representatives in their national student unions.
