Marisa Bellisario is a state high school which offers vocational education in the area of Inzago and Trezzo d’Adda, in Milan area. The following courses are offered: Health and Social services, Secretarial Services (also evening classes), Educational Studies and Social-Economical Etudies. Next year new regional courses and Health and Social Services evening classes will be offered.Nowadays our school is well-known in our area for its wide range of educational offers regarding inclusion, study support, cultural links with the local community, excellence enhancement, professional training and up-dating. Our school is also well-known as an important center in receiving and satisfying social relations needs, co-operation, integration and training. Work environment connections are consolidated through projects such as career advice and job-experience.Based on a survey filled out by all the school staff, the following needs were highlighted: CLIL methodological courses, improving teaching methods and English as a foreign language courses. Therefore, the selected areas that need improvement are teaching methods, class management strategies and English language skills. This project is the result of the identified need to modernize teaching methods and tools, to improve English language competences, to understand class management strategies, to withdraw from self-reference and increase other cultures awareness, catching the opportunity to create international good practices networks. Considering our school set-up, the aim is to create a network that can combine the different aspects that characterize the Marisa Bellisario. The staff professional development will have a strong impact on disengaged students, who will get more interested in studying through the use of innovative teaching methods. The team involved in this project is made up of 14 permanent teachers and one assistant: three of them have specific competences in the European area, having taken part in many European projects and training courses about European PCM.Five teachers will attend a CLIL training course aimed at acquiring new knowledges and teaching methods used in English-speaking countries and therefore developing the skills to use them in their classes. With other colleagues they will be able to carry out a comparative analysis of teaching methods applied to single subjects, identifying and strengthening learning. The 7 teachers who will take part in class management courses will acquire specific knowledge of up-to date European theories and suitable tools that can help the educational and teaching process, improving and acquiring new knowledge in order to manage group dynamics within the class, promoting inclusion, integration of “diversity” preventing bullying and anti-social behaviour. These strategies are aimed at improving teaching quality in the classroom and reducing the drop-out phenomenon. The staff involved in this project will therefore be able to forward their experiences through school training courses (peer education) and intends to follow a chronological serie of activities according to the European Commission guidelines regarding to the Project Cycle Management: management, communication, dissemination and evaluation. Results: the staff involved in the project, besides increasing cooperative work competences, will also be able to share their experience within the school, locally but also nationally and internationally. The school management staff intends to support the project by creating an annual training plan in which experts will start a more widespread training program: creation of partnerships with other European contexts, with the e-Twinning network and KA2 partnerships will be the roots for furthering a real and proper internationalisation process.Dissemination amongst participants and school staff will create a collective synergy that can also promote the Lifelong Learning Approach.
