"Life After Mobility Projects" training course took place in Gyumri, Armenia on May 15-22, 2016. It brought together 24 participants and 5 team members from 8 countries: Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal and Ukraine.
"Life After Mobility Projects" training course aimed at improving the quality of non-formal learning mobility programmes and strengthening their impact on young people’s employability through equipping youth workers, youth leaders and mentors with tools and competences for designing efficient support systems to guide young people throughout their mobility experience (preparation, implementation and follow-up).
Objectives of the training course were to:
- Share and develop new creative tools for supporting and guiding young people before, during and after their mobility experience;
- Examine the existing mechanisms for assessment, recognition and validation of the mobility experience and acquired competences on local and European levels;
- Explore links between and the potential of non-formal learning mobility programmes and young people’s employment/employability;
- Discuss within the participants’ group and with various local stakeholders the issues connected with the visibility of mobility programmes, cross-sectorial cooperation and the benefits of mobility programmes for the community at large;
- Develop recommendation towards National and European level stakeholders for setting up a coherent support system for organizations, project managers, mentors and young people.
- Share best practices and set up further cooperation projects in the field of non-formal learning mobility, institutional development, coaching and mentoring.
The participants of the training were EVS coordinators, youth workers and mobility project coordinators, experience in youth work and having strong interest and motivation on the topic, ready to be engaged in non-formal learning process in an intercultural setting and be willing to transfer the gained knowledge and skills to their reality by providing support and guidance to the beneficiaries of the mobility projects in their organizational context, and demonstrating strong interest in working on follow-up projects and designing a support system for the participants of the mobility projects.
Methodology of the training was based on the main principles of non-formal education (voluntary, learner-centered, interactive, holistic). The programme of the training course consisted of session build round the main topics of the training course (mobility, inclusion and employability), there was an opportunity to meet beneficiaries, organizations and institutions closely related to the topics of the training course (former EVS volunteer, organizations involved in mobility projects and state employment service).
Due to the diversity of methods and the enabling environment and setting, the participants had a chance to reflect on various topic, develop a set of competences and generate knowledge usable not only by them, but also by their colleagues for future use.
In the result of the project the training could:
- Build capacity of youth organizations to support and guide young people before, during and after their mobility experience;
- Get acquainted with the relevant tools and support structures for youth mobility;
- Raise awareness and underline the importance of including NEETs and other disadvantaged youth groups in youth work and particularly in mobility projects;
- Create strong partnerships, reflect on cross-sectoral approach and elaborate mechanisms to direct the capacity of mobility projects and gained experience of young people towards youth employment;
- The partnership building element of the project provided space for developing 7 new project ideas which could be implemented in the framework of Erasmus+ programme, and also over 20 local youth initiatives were inspired by the project.
