The most important objective in this project is the training of teachers in the area of support for pupils with 'special educational needs' and to provide additional tools in the areas of differentiated teaching. An important reason to focus on these objectives is the fact that the last couple of years more students with special educational needs have joined our classes. In order to deal with these heterogeneous groups, specific skills of teachers are required. In various documents we see the urge to work on these subjects: - the education inspectorate states "they see a lot of room for improvement, especially by making lessons more challenging and energizing" - for next year our school formulated a number of priorities (personalized learning and customization, activating the use of ELO and ICT in the classroom, activating methods and as priorities in the professionalization of teachers are mentioned professionalize to enable Tailored Education and learn from each other) - The sector agreement between the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, and the organization and advocate for school boards and schools in secondary education mentions a number of ambitions that are relevant in the context of this application (Challenging education for every student, contemporary facilities , schools as learning organizations. Throughout the project we will focus on "Digital Game-Based Learning" (The digital aspect depends on the opportunities that exist within the schools). Each year of the three-year project we will focus on one of the strengths of each school: - The Polish school has a lot of experience in the field of cooperative learning; - The Italian school has a lot of experience - also because of strict legislation in this area - including education; - The Dutch school has a lot of experience with the use of educational apps in the support for pupils with special educational needs. During the project two meetings will be organised every year. In these meetings learning-, teaching- and training activities will be organised. These meetings will be attended by three teachers and six students from the visiting school. The organising school will invite the teachers from the own school and other interested parties. The project will start with a conference on Digital Game-Based Learning. 1. October 2015 in the Netherlands: Conference on Digital Game-Based learning; 2. February 2016 in Poland: Seminar on cooperative learning; 3. June 2016 Italy: Review and compare / present the results of the first year; 4. October 2016 Italy: Seminar on Inclusive / tailored education; 5. April 2017 in Poland: Review and compare / present the results of the second year; 6. October 2017 in the Netherlands: Seminar on educational software / apps and increase the knowledge on Digital Game-Based Learning; 7. April 2017 in Italy: Evaluation and final presentation of all results of the project. The meetings 2 and 6 include students. In the project, the students are involved in devising and assessing the products used and / or designed. Six students and three teachers will participate in every meeting. The teachers that participate will change every meeting so many teachers will benefit from the meetings. After the seminars the participating teachers will give feedback to their colleagues at their own school. On a joint website the products resulting from the project are shared. This product must be a least: - Annually three ideas for the use of (D)GBL in class per school. The manuals for the self-designed games are uploaded; - Annually two video's of ‘good practise’ per school; - Protocols and action plans for students with special needs. - Feedback of at least two teachers of every school on the shared products.
