Let us in! - keeping the faith on you(th)
Date du début: 1 janv. 2015, Date de fin: 29 févr. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

MIJARC Europe coordinated a seminar for 35 rural young people, coming from 8 different countries in Europe (Belgium, Germany, Malta, Bulgaria, France, Romania, Portugal and Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia), from the 27th of July till the 1st of August 2015, in Overijse (Belgium). Entitled "Let us in! Keeping the faith on you(th)" this 4-days seminar aimed towards the understanding of the Christian values’ influence on today’s challenges for (rural) young people to enter professional life. It combined two broad topics (Christian values and (un)employment) but tried to answer several concrete questions concerning the role of the governments and the role of the church supporting young people in the transition period that brings, as we know, many difficulties, frustration and even social exclusion. This project targeted youth workers (volunteers or employed), leaders at local, regional and/or national level from our partner organisations and rural young people, members of our partners who are facing difficulties in their transition to professional life. The objectives of this project were to allow the participants to: - exchange about the realities in each country concerning the support that the church and the Christian communities provide to rural young people and how the governments are implementing measures to support the employment of young people; - develop creativity and critical thinking, finding valid solutions to empower rural young people to overcome the challenges they are facing actually and to take an active role in society; - get a stronger identification with the Christian values in their daily youth work and find new ways of working together with the church authorities for the interests and welfare of rural young people; - engage in “hands-on” measures to raise awareness of the communities for the problematic of rural young people, namely youth unemployment; - have a direct encounter with church and government authorities to allow a common discussion on the topics that concern us; - explore the role of the church in supporting young people in the process of transition to autonomy and in shaping EU policies; - create a common vision/position of all the partners on the topics addressed by the seminar, identifying commitments and demands for the follow-up of the activity; - develop practical tools and examples on how to help solving unemployment on a valuable way; To achieve these objectives, MIJARC Europe used its traditional methodology "See-Judge-Act" as a guideline from the analysis of the facts untill the implementation of concrete actions. The sessions have been facilitated by our Think Tank volunteers who have implemented non-formal and informal educational methods/ techniques, such as Icebreakers, energizers, working groups, discussions, thematic evenings, presentations by each country, round table with guests and experts speakers, street actions, world café, etc. The main impact pursued was linked with the capacity building of the partner organisations and the participants themselves, so they become well aware of the national and European realities on the topics of this seminar and feel empowered to take concrete actions, able to target different relevant stakeholders/authorities that play a key role on the welfare of rural young people facing difficulties in their transition to the labour market. Additionally, we believe that the role of youth organisations in guiding and supporting those young people should get also a better recognition. The potential long-term benefits of this project are very specific to each partner's reality. At a partnership level, we considered this project as a tool to strengthen the cooperation between our organisations and foster mutual understanding and solidarity. At European level, this project has brought a consolidated vision/position on the topics by all the partners, providing this way to MIJARC Europe and all national organisations, a stronger and more realistic representation of the voice of rural young people in Europe.
