This project involves the SEK II students (age 16 - 18) from different countries and backgrounds and sends them into virtual walks. These virtual walks show buildings and places which are typical and important for the culture and tradition of each region where the involved students live. Each virtual walk is done on a personal computer using a web browser by a simple clicking with a mouse on the picture that shows the direction you want to walk virtually. This creates 3-dimensional impressions by virtual turning and going ahead. To realize the final product, each student has to explore his own history and culture but afterwards and most of the time he deals with data he gets from his partner, each partner sending his own data circularly. The IT-competences of the students are improved by working with hundreds of picture- and HTML-files, precisely following on the specifications and documents, build by students of partner-schools. Only "Free Software" is used. This supports the disposability for our partners and for cooperating schools in the future.Thanks to virtual walks the students explore their own history and the history of the partner countries. The project integrates several subjects: IT, Social Studies, History and Art.The idea of the project implies students and teachers from partner countries learning from each other constantly in the process of project development, exchanging the results of their work in permanent progress and comparing their experiences.The final products will be provided on a CD/DVD and presented on a website, including all the virtual walks the students produce, together with all the specifications and documentation to be used as a future teaching tool by all the interested parties.
