Ess-gymnasiet has actively tried to enhance and further its development concerning internationalization since 2012. The school has started moving down the digital highway through participating in various EU-programmes, such as Comenius, but also through in-house projects. The vision of our organization is that teachers, students and other professions in our school will be fully aware and understand the possibilities of internationalization when it comes to studies, in-service training of teachers and exchanges.
In our project we wish to deepen our knowledge in ICT. A large project is currently in place to lead to the organization in the transition from an analogue school to a digital one. We have all the hardware in place, but we need to deepen and broaden our know-how in how to use software, ICT platforms and other digital aids in our everyday activities.
The teachers of ESS-gymnasiet have reached a minimum level of knowledge concerning ICT, ie. PIM 3 (a program started by the Swedish state). The first 20 teachers that will participate in the in-service training will qualify through a sincere interest in this project. They will apply personally, where they describe their specific qualifications and interest to take part in this important project. It is important that the participants understand that this involves an active involvement throughout the two-year period, in various ICT-platforms.
The methods used in the project will be the same as the ones studied, for example Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. The project’s blog will play a central part in the project. Continuous seminars/workshops will take place within the organization, where knowledge and insights will be spread.
Our goal is that the teachers of the school will be able to create more interest for the subjects they teach, through increased awereness of the possiblities of ICT. Amongst our students we have a widespread problem concerning motivation, which we are sure will be addressed through this project.
ESS-gymnasiet is a school where internationalization plays a vital and central role, which is also stated in the curriculum. We are supposed to be an institution where all students can partake in international exchanges and/or use social media. Our vision is a to provide an education where the content and the form of the classes keep changing, in tune with the ever-changing digital times. In order to provide this we need further insights into ICT.
