The eSw, protestant student work in Westphalia (BK) Inc. plans a youth meeting at the youth education center in Hagen/Berchum with 12 groups and all in all 60 participants under the topic “Let’s Deal with Our Past. 70 Years After World War II. Peacekeeping as a Challenge for Younger Generations in Europe” in the time from the 27th of March to the 4th of April 2015. The youth meeting is part of the East-West-East-project, which wants to create contacts between East and West Europe. Groups from Russia (St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg), Georgia, Ukraine, Moldavia, Belarus, Estonia, Poland, Germany, United Kingdom, Sweden and Spain take place in this project. All groups plan and carry out this project together. In addition a preparation meeting is carried out in February, 2015. The participants are averagely 16 to 23 years old. With this project, the network resumes to the memorial event, which is carried out at the 70. anniversary of the Second World War. We are going to discuss how the different cultures deal with the past instead of only remembering what happened. Remembering culture leads to a discussion about values of Europe “Peace making” and “Peace maintenance” and creates a platform for participants to exert one’s influence on peace in Europe and the world. This happens in theoretical input and in different artistic and creative Workshops. The teenagers also create Follow-Up-Actions for the memorial event, which takes place in May 2015 to the end of The Second World War in the countries. It is also planned, that the results of the workshop are shown at the town hall of Hohenlimburg.
