LET'S BE ARTISTS IN MATHEMATICS
Date de fin: 1 oct. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Our project is aimed at helping teachers and pupils to enrich their knowledge in mathematics. There is an introduction and exchange of new and interactive teaching methods, ways of improving the mathematic skills of pupils and an introduction to the cultural and linguistic diversity of Europe. The partnership gave all participants the opportunity to work together, regardless of age, nationality, occupation or social status. It included boys and girls, children with special needs, teachers, parents and representatives of local communities. Through our co-operation the children had the opportunity to learn more about the ways in which art and mathematics combine and to try out a variety of activities from all partner countries. The planned activities were successfully integrated in our teaching programmes in co-operation with the ideas of the different teachers. These activities complied with the conditions of the educational systems in the different countries. Using activities, tailored for the age-specific needs of the pupils we created various products from the field of art, foreign languages and ICT. We hope to have contributed to the knowledge of the children with regard to European values, while retaining their national identity and have helped to create a positive attitude towards the learning and teaching of mathematics as a science. The strongest part of the partnership was the motivation and involvement of all the children and teachers in the choice of the activities. Teachers decided the best way to portray all the activities in their school or kindergarten in order to achieve the project's objectives. The children described this project as, ‘a wonderful adventure with interesting things to do’. They improved their school achievements by working collaboratively and performing practical and enjoyable activities. They increased their self-esteem and motivation. During the project the teachers established friendships with their partner practitioners.
