Five schools, gathered in a consortium with the CCGPE-DGEO will participate to a project consisting in focusing on the trainings of «Seller /commercial Technician", the economy sector.
The beneficiaries will be 52 students, enrolled either in the 6th and last year of Technical education, at the qualification stage, in 6th professional grade or in part-time education (CEFA: Art 49), supervised by training professionals. These students will realize an internship of three or four weeks in retail shops, shops or hypermarkets. Host countries are Malta, for the Commercial Technicians and Spain or Italy for the Sellers. The young beneficiaries are enrolled in the last year of their 3rd Professional degree, the last stage of their initial vocational training. They will receive, at the end of the school year, a Qualification Certificate ( CQ6).
The domain of sales is one which goes beyond the borders of a country. The skills and competences acquired by a student during his/her training in the French Community can be exercised abroad. These capacities will be recognized and validated.
The objectives, in terms of the development of the project quality, are, for all the members of the consortium, to propose internships to the students somewhere else than in a French-speaking country, to bring an added value to the learnings by promoting the strengthening of a foreign language or an initiation to it. Because Spanish, Italian and French are Latin languages, it seemed to the members of the consortium that these languages represented a good compromise for pupils following a professional or sandwich training.
Therefore, this is a very significant initiative for these schools which had never before attempted to send their pupils to "unknown" ground. Pupils will have the opportunity to face the reality of the European employment market, within their professional sector. Through partnership with a intermediate partner such as Paragon Europe in Malta, Euromind in Seville and Tempo Libero in Lombardi, pupils will work in stores (small shops, average or hypermarkets) where they will strive to acquire specific skills. Their tasks will be accomplished with more or less of autonomy, taking into account the difficulty of the language. The preparation of the pupils will be taken in charge, before the internship, by those partners sending them abroad (by strengthening their English skills or through the study of basic vocabulary connected to the sales business in Spanish and Italian), with the support of the intermediate partnership. A few hours course at the end of the day, upon request, can also be taken abroad. The realization of the internship itself will benefit from the presence of coaches stemming from the sending partners who will make the connection between the trainees and the welcoming partners. They will take in charge the evaluation of the internship, the learning outcomes (on the basis of the grid of competences drafted by the whole consortium) as well as the integration of the results in the Belgian program of every beneficiary.
This internship will also favor self-assessment, the development of social skills and autonomy, as well as the opening to diversity and to a different culture. To be initiated to different sales techniques, to develop nonverbal attitudes and to deal with an international clientele, are competences needed by every future seller. Paradoxically, the language barrier will favor the development of attitudes which are inseparable of the sales business, such as welcoming customers, smiling, having a respectful attitude and showing tolerance and flexibility to an always different public. The short and long-term impacts will be: positive effects on the drop-out rate by making learning more meaningful; the acquisition of skills which will contribute to the obtaining of the diploma by the pupils; the pursuit of studies and the practice of a language; improvement of the employability thanks to a bigger competitiveness; greater awareness of the European citizenship. For schools, the impact will be: Evolution of the project of establishment; promotion of the technical and professional education; promotion of the training in the eyes of the local companies; the continued education of the teachers; the commitment of other sections in this type of internship; the image of a constantly evolving school, internationally-oriented, which does not rest on its already acquired assets and dares to overcome the language barrier.
The delivery of the Europass mobility, the Curriculum vitae Europass and the passport of languages to the beneficiaries, will take place during an official ceremony organized by the CCGPE DGEO. The results of this consortium will be integrated in all the actions carried out under the Mobility cell supervision and communicated by the CCGPE DGEO to the national authorities.
