Walls turned sideways are bridges (Angela Davis quote)The project is an outcome from previouce networking projects between European and Middle East organisations. SJ has historic partnerships and cooperation with Palestine, Middle-East sine the 90ies. These partnerships has weaken since dissolution of international network YAP. Promoting Peace and intercultural understanding in the world we believe it is important to work with the region of Middle East. There is a need to reinforce our partnerships and develop new ones. This project will permit the participants from Europe and Middle East to exchange on perspectives towards Peace from different positions, points of view in different places in the world (Europe and Middle East). What is the understanding of culture of Peace of young people in different parts of the world. In the current challenging situation where many young people are living in conflict affected areas we believe it is crucial to talk about mutual understanding, intercultural learning, richness of diversity and living together. During the three weeks young people from Palestine and Palestinian youth from Israel, young Europeans will meet to discuss about these topics and do some concrete arts workshops in order to express their opinion about Peace and peaceful society, create a common message that they wish to pass to the world.The exchange will take place between 4th and 22end August 2016 in France in Montendre La Maison des Bateleurs (regional delegation of SJ). It will gather young people from France, Belgium, Palestinian youth from Israel and from Palestine. Every participant will be actively involved in the three phases of the project: preparation, exchange itself and after the exchange while disseminating the results. Workshops: diminishing the culture of invisible walls trough Arts1. how to use art as tool for expression and inter-cultural understanding. Different art methods will let the participants to show the situation they are living, the challenges they are facing, how the conflicts are affecting daily life of young people. What can be done to improve the situation and what is the message we want to deliver to the world. 2. How to brake stereotypes, stigmatisation – the relation to media, information given by mass media, what is our role as responsible citizens spreading information that covers different points of view on one situation. Why the tolerance, solidarity with people around us and migrants, the richness of diversity, fighting stereotypes is important.The final event taking place August 19th as an open door day will give the chance to present the results and artistic creations, outcomes of the exchange as well as interact with local people, have more valuable intercultural exchanges in a festive mood.
