Lernen und Leben im europäischen Ausland
Date du début: 12 sept. 2016, Date de fin: 11 sept. 2018 PROJET  TERMINÉ

BOS Nürnberg is a school that offers young adults after their apprenticeship or job training the opportunity to get the qualification to enter university in one- or two-year courses. With our project we want to reach various aims: One of our main objectives is to promote learner autonomy among our pupils as a key competence for studying at university. The positive effect on the language competence and the personal development of the participants will influence their motivation and performance and, additionally, decrease the rate of early school leaving. Furthermore, by establishing international partnerships our project should help to broaden and internationalise the profile of our school as an institution. A new branch, “International Economics” is planned to be established at our school in the near future. Finally, our project focusses also on the staff of our school. By giving teachers the chance to get in touch with European colleagues they can exchange teaching approaches and methods and put them into practice. This, in turn, will be an important contribution to our ongoing school development programme, which focusses also on improving teaching and learning processes at our school.Firstly, our project includes the three-week ‘Professional Development Programme’(PDP) of our partner, the ECBM. The project is embedded in our curriculum; i.e. the results of the PDP will be the basis of a paper the pupils have to hand in as an obligatory part of the A-levels. From a pool of applicants six participants will be chosen. In London our pupils will be supported by tutors of the ECBM and an accompanying teacher. Secondly, six teachers will take part in job shadowing period at various European partner schools. As a preparation the participating pupils have to register themselves online. In addition there will be various arrangements and meetings to prepare them for their stay in London. In London the pupils will be at the ECBM each day. There they get familiar with different learning and presentation techniques, specific topics, make excursions and work on individual projects. At the end of their stay there will be an oral and a written exam. Back home they will write their executive summary. All three parts are obligatory to achieve the Kaufmann/-frau International Certificate certified by the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce. Before the mobility each participant has to sign a learning agreement. It should include individually chosen topics in combination with language and cultural objectives. Participating teachers attend partner schools for a job shadowing period to develop their teacher personality by getting to know new teaching approaches and methods. Back home multiplication events will be implemented. The project should promote the understanding of social challenges in other countries and cultures among pupils and teachers. It should lay the foundation for an international network, foster synergies and help contribute to a European identity. Europe with its linguistic and cultural variety should be experienced and the importance of lifelong learning should be realized. The mobility will lead to an intercultural asset that will be of great benefit for the school itself and its pupils due to the teachers in their function as role models and the integration of intercultural knowledge into concrete school activities. As pupils and teachers immerse themselves into a culturally different environment at school and in daily life for a period of time, the experiencing of a European identity might have a lasting impact.BOS Nürnberg is planning to strengthen the already existing international partnerships and to establish new projects in the future. An ongoing and regular evaluation and documentation of our international projects make sure that the whole school community is aware of the cultural differences and similarities of our European partners.
