We, Karin Pamminger, Anita Gratschmayer and Daniela Wöß, teach at an elementary school in Upper Austria. Our project entitled "Learning with heart, hand and brain" ("Lernen mit Herz, Hand und Hirn") should guarantee our pupils the possibility of holistic, personalized learning in different social and cultural compositions. We decided this way of learning, because our society is subject to constant change and therefore must change schools, thus teaching methods.The focal point of our project represents the "Atelierunterricht", which is installed at our school for 2 years.The children have the opportunity to work across grade levels from a variety of topics according to the interests and talents individually intrinsically motivated. The classes are resolved in these times.The pupils should learn in the long run by our project an ego-strengthening, acquire its own strategies and become professionally and socially competent. They should realize that achieving goals can be combined with efforts, but makes them happy and satisfied. These acquired skills should have a positive impact on the children in all areas of life in the future.
