LERNEN HELFEN LERNEN
Date du début: 1 sept. 2014, Date de fin: 30 juin 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Many young people from European countries have grown up in privileged circumstances. It is this awareness that propels the drive for donation activities for projects in developing countries to be organized and for internships abroad to be embarked upon. More often than not there is no fundamental discussion with regards to development cooperation. The implication from this is that their level knowledge remains unaffected and that volunteers set off into the great wide open with stereotypical ideas of “helping”. Within the framework of the project “LERNEN HELFEN LERNEN”, materials are being developed on the questions currently facing international development cooperation. They will be uploaded onto a website for anyone to use free of charge. They contain draft lectures and workshop concepts for schools, as well as analogue and web-based preparatory training for prospective volunteers. Additional materials such as short films and a touring exhibition will also be produced for the general public. All products are being developed to correspond to a high creative standard and to include the latest technology. The materials are being cultivated primarily for the organizations involved with development cooperation, but they can also be used by schools or other interested parties. The goal is to work towards an understanding for global interdependence, tackling inter-cultural challenges as well as the functionality in development cooperation. Hands-on learning resources are being readied for this purpose, which will enable young people to take reflective action based on solidarity. The skills which they will acquire by using these resources could be useful not just for their future experience abroad, but also for their future career. The project will be undertaken by five organizations from Liechtenstein, Italy, Germany and Bolivia. Four of these organizations work in the field of development cooperation and one in the field of art and culture. The interdisciplinary composition of the team will facilitate the development of attractive and innovative materials for both teaching and learning. Working together with a non-profit organization from a developing country and with former volunteers allows for consideration of different experiences gained with volunteering. On its part, the team from the art association brings with it a high level of creative and technical expertise. The project will last for 18 months. The materials will be developed, tested and introduced to the general public through various forms of presentation. All products will be translated into German, English, Spanish and Italian and will also remain freely accessible to any interested parties once the project comes to an end.
