At our school we want to increase intercultural understanding, as well as the individual promotion of our students' language skills through the use of multimedia and the exchange with schools in English speaking countries. We intend to send two colleagues, who will share their newly aquired insights with the rest of the teaching staff, which means the English teachers, as well as Geography- or IT-teachers. In this course the participants will get more information on the different UK educational systems and also on Scotland’s culture and history. They will update their competence and discursive skills in English, enhance methodological expertise in the teaching of English as a foreign language, as well as update vocabulary, consolidate and gain new ideas and materials for use in the classroom. Other contents are the use of the Internet and other ICT resources and also of published, authentic and audio-visual material in class. They will develop cultural awareness and understanding of contemporary Britain and share experience and ideas with colleagues from other European regions. All of these contents will help to achieve the given aims of our school. Ideally there will be the chance to start an exchange with another school, which could last for years and this way also supports our aims.
