Reforms in the German Armed Forces and general developments in society have led to a highly heterogeneous student body. Due to gaps in prior knowledge and the demands of the subject, these tendencies are most felt in the English classes.The aim of the planned training courses is it to strenghten the methodological skills of the English teachers, to allow them to react to these current developments. It is the goal to offer lessons, which are more oriented on competences and on the needs of the students. In the medium and long term these developments should be transfered to the other departments at our school.To realize this training, five teachers of our school are going to take part in different training courses in the UK. All chosen colleagues have been teaching at the school for at least five years and are qualified teachers. The partners have long experiences in offering these kind of training courses and the courses are going to take part during the next year.The colleagues will have to commit to offering their own training courses at the school. These will be realized not only for the English department, but for other departments as well.The aim of the whole project is to increase the methodological skills in the language department and to offer modern and student-oriented classes. As all colleagues also teach a second subject, these skills will extend to other departments as well.
