Learning using Non-Formal Methods During Classes

"Demostene Botez" School is situated in the village Trusesti, Botosani. It is located in a rural area near Botosani. The School is composed of seven structures from pre-school to high school level. Three of them are located in Trusesti and the other in the area, in villages like Drislea, Ionaseni, Buhaceni. Over 30% of the school population is part of dysfunctional families with a high degree of poverty. This leads to a lower graduation, and graduates are not attracted to jobs in the area. The causes of this are: employers do not know how to promote their offer ,parents are not involved enough in the education of children, the school is not preparing themin a appropriate way for the life after graduation. The School needs were detected by means of questionnaires for students, teachers and parents. Questionnaires were interpreted by the school psychologist in conjunction with the members of European programs commission . The results were communicated to the head of school and, with it, it was established that the main need in the school is using non formal methods in the classes. The objectives are: to develop competent teachers to strengthen the transition between formal and non-formal education, to develop skills to integrate non-formal methods in the teaching-learning-assessment process , to adapt curricula to the needs and learning styles of students by introducing non-formal methods, to grow by 5% promotion rate among pupils from terminals classes and by 10% among students in other classes. The number of participants in the project is 11 and most of them are teachers covering various curricular areas. The activities carried out in this project will be divided into three categories: pre mobility, mobility and post-mobility activities. The most important are: 10 dissemination activities (multimedia presentation) at institutional, local and county within 4 weeks Briefings -4 (1 / group) on the skills acquired during the courses organized in the Teachers 'Council, the Board of Directors, in the student council and parents' representative committee -creating a group of at least one representative from each committee methodology to be trained (for a period of 8 days) by the project team in order to promote and put into practice non formal techniques and tools acquired Demonstration lessons -7 (1 / each curricular area) for 3 months methodical committees - An hour "Parents CAN play too" parents will be involved with students in non formal activities - Activity : monitoring the implementation of non formal techniques into classes of students using observation scales (every 3 months for half a year). The expected impact of the project is: Long-term impact (2-5 years) is aiming to increase the attractiveness of classes, to lower absenteeism and to decrease by 5% dropout rate, increase Exam passing by 5% and 10% respectively, increase by 2% integration of students in the labor market, acquiring positive attitudes, tact, optimism, increasing self-esteem, the ability to use an international language at conversational level, acquiring and effective use of knowledge related to multiculturalism (since labor migration within the EU), the ability to work effectively in a team, communicate with other group members, the ability to manage time properly. Target group: the institution On Short-term (0-6 months ) at the school level, the impact will be the enriching and enhancing the quality of teaching, increasing motivation among participants and among colleagues that belong to the organization. In the medium term (1-2 years ) and long term (2-5 years) is expected to increase the quality of education and hence the attractiveness of classes, enriching educational opportunities, develop students' ability to work effectively in a team using non-formal methods , increase student involvement in volunteering (generally with people who belong to disadvantaged social categories), increasing self-esteem, positivism.
