Learning through Volunteering III
Date du début: 1 sept. 2016, Date de fin: 30 juin 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

This is an EVS-project involving two volunteers from Germany. The background is as follows: After having carried through several youth exchanges, Svendborg Youth School and Clubs now wishes to be involved in a project over a longer period of time. We think that welcoming volunteers at our school and clubs and at Vestermarkskolen will give young people in Svendborg and the vicinity the opportunity to engage in discussions and have various activities together with volunteers. This will help us achieve the objectives which is to develop a healthy lifestyle and to foster European citizenship. At the same time the volunteers will enhance their communicative skills in a foreign language (English) and try out some of the ideas they have developed alone and together with their sending organizations. One volunteer is a young man from Germany who has experience with coaching young people in boxing. Now he would like to improve his intercultural competences and has sent his application to us because he thinks that we will be able to help him do so.The other volunteer is a young woman from Germany who has experience with leading the musical group in her school and coach children in sailing. She also wants to improve her intercultural competences. The following activities will take place: In the clubs the volunteers will be together with young people in the age group 13-18. They will have discussions with them and thus help them develop their intercultural competences. In members´councils they will discuss subjects such as: "What can young people do to contribute to the development of democracy?" and "How can they exercise influence on many different levels?" In the clubs there will also be various board games, tabletennis and -football, music and many different DIY activities. They will also see how food is prepared in Denmark and give examples of cooking from their home countries. At Vestermarkskolen they will assist in the international class with language and sports activities.Other activities such as kayaking, orienteering and mountain bike riding will take place on the water and in the woods surrounding Svendborg together with staff and young people from Svendborg Youth School. Through these a healthy lifestyle will be promoted. There will be the possibility of various trips and excursions together with staff and club members such as:Mountaineering in Norway, Christmas trip to Flensburg, non-alcohol parties, playing in a band, dance. The impact on the volunteers will be the development of intercultural communicative competences and experiences in setting up activities for young people which will help them exercise influence on the activities, but also on decisions concerning their choice of future studies and leisure time activities. The sports activities and the activities in the international class will further the volunteer´s reflections on a intercultural, linguistic competences and how they are obtained. The impact on the participating organizations will be experiences in preparing volunteers, setting up learning plans together with the volunteers, handling youth passes over a long period time, developing logistic skills by coordinating activities in three youth clubs and one municipal school and communicating in a foreign language orally and in writing. The impact on the target groups (the pupils and club members) will be enhacement of intercultural communicative competences and practical experiences with European citizenship while using methods of non-formal learning. The longer term benefits will be the fostering a social cohesion in the European Union and mobility during student/labour life. Other long term benefits will be the creation of a healthy lifestyle while taking sustainability into consideration. Knowledge of the Erasmus+ programme will ensure different kinds of mobility in the future.
