Our project is entitled ‘Learning for our future’The main objectives of this project is to develop the workforces of all the participating schools by completing job shadowing and training to develop pedagogic skills and understanding that will enhance learning opportunities for students so that they become confident in applying skills necessary for their future development eg risk taking, problem solving, entrepreneurship, self- organisation, independent learning, using their creativity, digital competence, self - confidence and understanding of democracy. It also recognises the underlying need for fluency in language acquisition and the importance of teaching this from an early age. There are five partner schools including ourselves and five different course providers. Schools have been chosen for pedagogic example and / or language provision. Where the school does not share a language that we teach they have a strong pedagogy around the teaching of languages to young children and we hope to learn methodologies from their practice. The project will include all teachers from across our school and some teaching support staff and will be enhancing both their pedagogic understanding and language knowledge. For some this will be by having an introduction to a language through an immersive experience. We will engage all of our ten teaching staff in attending job shadowing, courses or hosting teachers within their classrooms. We will also be providing opportunity for all other staff to be immersed in the experience through travel or hosting. It is important to us to explore, research and understand a variety of pedagogic approaches which work to enable children to develop as independent learners through a cross-curricula creative curriculum. This in turn will help our children to develop understanding and skills which can be transferred to both the application of tasks and to future yet to be determined opportunities. All the schools selected advocate this style of working and yet are culturally very diverse. The courses chosen start with looking at the observation of learning in a classroom, which is a more complex skill in a less formalised situation. They continue by exploring creative thinking and teaching as well as entrepreneurship and leadership in the classroom. This taught element will reinforce observations made on job shadowing experiences. The European Framework will be used as a tool to judge personal language improvement. For the pedagogic focused job shadowing a framework to aid observations will be compiled which can then be published on e-twinning as a research case study with practical suggestions and reference links to further relevant information.It is expected that the project will enable a wider more informed basis for helping determine the style of our new evolving and bespoke creative 21st century curriculum plan for the next four or five years and have a direct impact on our pupils by increasing teacher confidence. The development of individual teacher’s capabilities in language teaching will have an even more direct effect on pupils as a wider group of teachers will be involved in a rolling programme of language teaching, across several languages.It is also important to continue to develop an understanding within the teaching workforce that to develop their own philosophical approach it is important, both for themselves and for the future of education that they build from a wider knowledge or experience base, with a growth mindset, in order to frame their ideals.
