LEARNING BY PLAYING IS A YOUTH EXCHANGE PROPOSAL THAT PURSUES YOUNG PEOPLE ALL-ROUND DEVELOPMENT BY WORKING WITH NON-FORMAL EDUCATION METHODOLOGIES THROUGH SPORT.[CONTEXT]To talk about sport is to talk about more than only a simple physical activity or a show. It also means to talk about its educational dimension as well as great social, cultural and reactive role.Therefore, sport is an adequate resource to develop key competences, like teamwork. It is also a way to stimulate intercultural understanding, reflecting different cultural expressions and creating bridges between them. Lastly, it is a medium to transmit key values, such as respect.If to all the above we add the media impact and unparalleled attractive of sport among youth, it is not surprising that it is a widely used tool in youth work and a perfect bridge allowing to reach young people, especially in the case of football.[OBJECTIVES]With sport in general and futsal in particular as a joining thread, this youth exchange is created with the aim of contributing to the overall personal development of young people through the following channels:- Development of the key competences, such as effective communication, initiative and conflict solving;- Promotion of both the basic values of sport, like companionship or respect, and those gathered in article 2 of the EU Treaty;- Promotion of sport and physical activity free form risks and compatible with the development of a professional career;- Raising awareness about other cultures and enrichment they bring to the society;- Greater comprehension of the reality in which the disabled people live and the role of sport in their social inclusion;- Familiarizing the participants with the goals and methods of the new pedagogical focus, such as non-formal education.We also aspire to raise the awareness of the role of sport as a tool used for the development of young people among the participating organisations and to reinforce its role in international work.[PARTICIPANTS]54 young people between 13 and 15 years of age from Spain, Italy, Sweden will be invited to participate in the mobility activity, all of them members of futsal clubs and amateur sportsmen/sportswomen.Around 30% of the participants are youngster with fewer opportunities, due to their immigrant background or because of the socio-economic situation of their families.To guarantee a risk free activity and to accompany the participants in the process of learning, each group will have two leaders. The majority of them will be the staff of the clubs which will participate in the learning process of youth throughout the exchange.[ACTIVITIES] The project is a one week long youth exchange, which will take place between 22th and 28th August 2016, in Alcala de Henares.The activity will be divided into sessions which will group to form a series of thematic blocks, through the project’s objectives will be accomplished:- Fair play and values linked to sport. In this block values linked to sport, and their most common ways of expression fair play, will be explored and reinforced through theoretical and practical sessions;- Competences development. Throughout three sessions, with a mixed focus on theory and practice, the competences will be approached. The participants will be familiarized with this concept and its importance. Activities allowing to develop them through sport will also be implemented;- Social inclusion through sport. During one day, the reality of people with special needs and the ways sport can be used as a tool for their integration in the society will be explored;- Learning process. These sessions of a transversal character are aimed at analysing, reinforcing and evaluating the learning process realized during the exchange;- Dual careers and safe sports practice. Those will address safe sports practice and parallel professional career;- Common sessions. Those have the aim of establishing an appropriate framework to achieve a learning space.[METHODOLOGY]The methodology applied in all phases of the project, and especially during the mobility activity, will be based on the principles of the non-formal education, providing a structured framework but at the same time flexible enough to develop an active and participative learning process.A wide range of techniques will be used, for example open space, roundtables, forum theatre, simulation games, etc.[RESULTS AND IMPACT]The implementation of the activity will not only have an undoubted impact on the overall development of the young people, as it was written above, but it will also make them and their organisations more aware of the immense potential of sport as an educational tool.The project outcomes will benefit also other entities interested in the topic since the methodologies of the session will be published under open licenses.
