Learn&Teach, an innovative language learning project
Date du début: 1 sept. 2014, Date de fin: 31 août 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Speaking skills is probably the most important as well as the most difficult linguistic skill to acquire when learning a foreign language at school mainly because of lack of time and resources. However foreign languages have never been so important for the professional future of our today pupils. The objective of this project is to tackle this issue and develop a 1to1 language exchanges platform for secondary schools. This solution will be tested by 150 secondary pupils from France (75) and United Kingdom (75) with the objective to have 90% of them achieving a B2 level in speaking and listening skills after 2 years. The output of the project will be an adhoc open online platform that allows language exchanges between foreign pupils through 1to1 video calls specifically designed for secondary schools' pupils and foreign languages teachers. During the two years of the project, each pupil will have a 10 minutes weekly video conversation with his/her foreign-paired video pal. Each pupil will have to produce a monthly blog entry in foreign language as a result of the video conversations. Results and improvements will be measured quarterly by oral tests and surveys and will be compared to a control group. The expected impact of the project is an improvement of the foreign language skills of the participants but also the use of the language exchanges platform by other schools within the European Community that will be the main long-term benefit.
