LEAP - Learning - (the) European Approach to Progress
Date du début: 1 juin 2015, Date de fin: 31 mai 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The motivation for this project derives from a current experimental tablet usage for three years (supported by the Ministry of Education Baden-Württemberg). The main focus of this project is the improvement of pedagogic and didactic structures and methods when using modern educational tools like tablets in school. This should ultimately improve the teaching quality within the school by implementing results in the school's organisational management and curriculum and by means of regional training courses improve the teaching quality in various schools in Baden-Württemberg, preparing students for living and working in today's Europe. In addition to the project school exchanges with European schools and excursions in Europe take place, where modern technology is used to create a virtual space, where national boundaries start to blur and students can identify themselves as truly European citizens. The participating staff (2 teachers of English for the training courses, and the job shadowing, 1 additional technical teacher for the job shadowing) are highly motivated, professional teachers and experts in their fields. Their expertise covers all the necessary organisational skills, leadership competence, the potential to organise regional training courses (in Baden-Württemberg), the distribution of a a subject-related newsletters via the local education authority (Regierungspräsidium) and intercultural competence based on various stages in their professional life and developement. 1. One-week immersion course in Scotland: using modern media and teaching tools in Scotland and other European countries, getting to know the Scottish education system, subject-based (English as a foreign language) exchange with colleagues from other European schools. 2.One-week of job shadowing in an educational institution in the United Kingdom with a focus on using tablets in various subjects (especially foreign languages), methods, technical aspects and best practice. 3. One-week training course in a European country (e.g. United Kingdom) with a focus on using modern teaching tools like tablets in foreign language teaching. In addition to the project there are further activities with partner schools across Europe, the possibility for students to take part in an extra-curricular Europe study group as well as school internal and regional training courses for tablet usage and platforms like eTwinning. The results that are achieved in this project will be added to the school's quality management and shared between a large number of professional teachers by internal and external training courses and virtual communication platforms. In the long run a sustainable improvement of the teaching quality in the school and various schools across Baden-Württemberg, a factual and emotional realization of a common Europe (for students, teachers and the leadership team) and a stronger orientation of teaching English as a lingua franca, which often serves as the shared communicative basis in Europe, are long-term objectives of this project.
