Leading the intercultural dialogue in our projects for better acceptance of diversity in society

Throughout Europe, we are witnessing the refugee crises in everyday life. The topics of inclusion and intercultural dialogue are very important and present in everyday life of youth all over Europe, especially due to migrations. Interethnic, inter-religious and other differences cause certain tensions, prejudices and hidden aggression. During our youth work and cooperation as partners, we’ve noticed the need to improve competences of our youth workers in order to best respond to the newest increase of hatred in our multi-ethnic communities. Project targets youth workers willing to promote and lead quality inclusion and intercultural dialogue in our projects and communities and willing to improve intercultural learning/dialogue in our organisations’ activities for more inclusive society with accepting diversity around us.The core activity of the project is – 8 days long training course. It will be organised in the youth hostel in Zadar, from 18th till 26th October 2016. Project will gather 31 participants, trainers and staff from 10 organisations and countries (HR, MK, IT, CZ, ES, FR, GR, TR, BG, SK).Objectives:• To share realities and experiences with discrimination, exclusion and marginalization of different groups (including migrants and refugees) in different European communities/countries• To explore and promote intercultural acceptance of diversity and respect of Fundamental / Human Rights in Europe• To increase participants’ ability to deeply understand and empathise with different socially excluded and marginalised groups in our communities• Promote intercultural dialogue as instrument in acquiring the knowledge and aptitudes for dealing with a more open and more complex environment• Enable participants to develop and lead quality youth work projects which contribute to intercultural dialogue and acceptance of diversity in communities• Further develop their competences in communication, conflict transformation and teamwork for quality leadership and facilitation of intercultural dialogue in intercultural youth work• Introducing the Erasmus+ Youth in Action programme and developing new projects and future European level cooperation among partners with the topic of intercultural dialogueThe training course is based on the approach and principles of non-formal education and will use a lot of insights from the SALTO booklets, EU policy documents and T-kits of the Partnership programme of EU and CoE. The training course is designed as an open learning process based on participants’ experience and exchange. A combination of different creative, participatory and interactive methods will be used and designed upon the profile of participants.All partners will be involved in preparation, implementation and evaluation and follow-up phase and activities during the project, while the preparation team of trainers, facilitators and staff will be comprised of experienced youth trainers and youth workers from applicant and partner from Croatia and FYR Macedonia.Project will have biggest impact on direct beneficiaries-participants who will further develop their skills in needs analysis, defining, planning, leading and evaluating quality inclusion/acceptance youth work activities of other mainstream and marginalised youth workers and youngsters within their local and European activities. Partner organisations will receive trained people capable and encouraged for initiating and leading new and existing youth work activities in relation to acceptance and inclusion of immigrants, refugees and other cultural minorities.Potential longer term benefits: Through increased quantity and quality of youth work projects of participants and partners, we expect the increased competences and readiness of young people in communities (indirect beneficiaries) for taking active stand on fighting discrimination and intolerance and promoting respect of diversity and intercultural acceptance.
