REFERENCE: 566748-EPP-1-2015-1-FR-EPPKA1-JMD-MOB_LIVETITLE: Leading International Vaccinology Education, LIVEObjectiveThe Joint Master Degree Leading International Vaccinology Education (LIVE) is a master of science in Biomedical Sciences with an emphasis on employability of the graduated international students and dedicated to train the next generation of vaccinologists to fill a gap in global post-graduate formation.Course durationTwo years (120 ECTS credits).Brief descriptionLIVE is jointly delivered by five leading universities, namely by Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and Universitat de Barcelona (Spain), University of Antwerp (Belgium) and Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and Université Jean Monnet Saint-Etienne (France), in agreement and close collaboration with 31 associate partners from the whole world of chain in Vaccinology: HEIs, foundations, organisations, small, pharmaceutical companies and clinical or research centres in Vaccinology. Students move from Barcelona (S1), to Antwerp (S2) and then to Lyon (S3). Before moving worldwide for their master's thesis (S4), they are deeply trained in (1) Immunology, Immunopathology, (2) Infectiology, Epidemiology, (3) Research, Clinical and Industrial Vaccinology, (4) multidisciplinary aspects. During the second and third semester, LIVE students attend an international Summer School on Vaccinology and participate to yearly visits at industrial partners’ sites. During the third semester, as part of their official training, they are involved in MOOC development and they experience innovative educational practice.The fourth semester is dedicated to internships and to the elaboration of master's thesis co-supervised by all universities. LIVE students have the opportunity to work either at the 30 excellent research laboratories affiliated to the three founding national masters or with one of the 31 partners providing topics for internships.Career prospectsLIVE students will draw their future career in vaccine quality control, quality assurance, project management, clinical studies, commercial development, business development, patents, regulatory affairs, communication, public health policy, research & development, or PhD studies funded by more than 15 associate partners.During their studies and according to the “Connected for Life” spirit of the LIVE family, the students make valuable career contacts with our associated partners at a worldwide level. Partners coming from academic world as well as private companies are involved to shape the LIVE programme so that it perfectly fits to their present and future needs. Students have the opportunity to discover the activities of their future potential employers and conversely. From this partnership, students gain job opportunities and employers can recruit excellently trained colleagues that they have come to know.LIVE graduates and postgraduates will have an ideal background to use their broad expert view on Vaccinology to manage the development and creation of new products or services in this field or even start up completely new companies.An international experienceLIVE students have the opportunity to study with colleagues, lecturers and scholars from all over the world and are trained to adapt to different cultures during their master. All the courses are taught in English and the programme includes ECTS credits devoted to the study of two foreign languages. In addition, the students have the possibility to collaborate with partner organisations from the whole world of chain in Vaccinology. DiplomaLIVE students will be awarded a degree co-delivered by the French universities, a second degree co-delivered by the Spanish universities, a third degree issued by the Belgian university and a joint LIVE diploma supplement.Websitehttp://live.univ-lyon1.fr/
